2003 (996) targa question please

I'm looking into purchasing a low mileage '03 Targa.

1. Is the rear end on this 996 the wider version like it is on the current 997 models (same as C4 and Turbo)

2. I'm concerned about the constant sunlight coming in to the cabin of the car. I know there is a automatice 2nd 'mesh screen' cover that can also be slid closed however.... its not opaque?

does anyone know if Porsche sells a solid 'liner' cover that can be switched out in place of the perferated screen to block all light when wanted??

THANK YOU!!
ps.... also any other comments on this car from those of you who have a 996 TARGA?

The rear is narrow, the 996 targa was never offered as a wide body like the 997, the screen does help and is useful, I have never had an issue with heat however I'm up in Canada, Arizona is entirely a different storey...

As for a solid screen, i have never come across one, but i have't been looking either....
All in all I love my targa

I loved my Targa! The glass roof was really cool and loved the red color I had.

Yeah, I looked at a Targa last year and had the same concern on sunlight... test drove it and decided if I bought it I would need to tint the roof, too much sunlight through the mesh screen for me. This was in sunny Nor Cal which is not as bad as Arizona.

Install V-COOL TINT (depends on what shade you want from clear to super dark). This particular tint protects interior from UV rays and shields off heat miraculously. Same technology and product used to tint the windows, etc of space shuttles previously. Just a warning on the price. I was charged 5 times more than the 3M tint cost.

Maybe you should consider a coupe instead.
