creaking up front?

So I have noticed that when I am driving at low speeds I get a creaking sound coming from the driver side front suspension. It also happens when I get in or out of the car. I want to think it is a lower control arm but is there a possibility of something else? Anyone else had this problem? I can push down on the fender and it makes the sound as well. very annoying..

Could be the rubber bushing on your sway bars. I would look at refreshing some wear components.

Update wear items... Sway links, sway bar bushings, various control arm pieces, etc....

Suspension links at the sway bar or control arm generally come together with rubber bushing in most vehicles. Our P-cars would not be that different. The rubber tends to deteriorate over time or abuse. Replace where needed, and always do both sides. A creaking sound (metal to metal, or off center if you will) is the most common hint where a replacement is the remedy. Good luck.

So I just need to replace the rubber bushings? Anyone know where these can be found?

Thanks for all the help!

I use Pelicanparts. They have nearly every P-car part, and deliver very fast.

A friend of mine had a similar noise on his 996 and he replaced the lower ball joint arm as the grommet was brittle and that took care of the problem. But as others have said, it may be your sway bar bracket grommets. Sorry, can't tell you how to get to it though as I'm a newbie Porsche owner. I looked underneath the front end of mine and all I saw was shielding.

When I used to have my 996 and had the clunking noise, it turned out to be the rubber ends of the droplinks. Not terribly expensive to replace, but annoying as the bad roads here wore them out in no time (once a year!)

I have the same issue on the passenger side. I always thought it was my spring or strut that needs replacement.

had a full inspection today. turns out it is the ball joint on control arm. mechanic suggested replacing control arm and sway links.. That sound about right?

What are my options with those parts?

You can pay him now (both ball joints), or you can pay him later (mechanic suggested replacing control arm and sway links). I would opt for the latter, and be done with it.

Do you mind sharing the cost? Or is this a DYI + alignment job?
