PSE decision

Does anyone have a 02-04 996 w PSE in San Jose, Redwood City?
Can someone let me hear you PSE if you have a 3.6L?

I've heard sound clips of standard vs PSE. I know it's raved by everyone who's got one. It seems to be quite louder than stock.

I'm pretty satisfied w my 02 996 cab stock exhaust. I wasn't planning on getting PSE but I can get a great deal on one.

I won't install the switch so would it be loud if I keep in under 3k rpm. With a cab, would it be too loud to make phone conversation not possible at 3k on freeway w top down? (don't make many calls but sometimes you can't avoid)

TIA

there is minimal resonance and fairly quiet inside for a coupe. i'd imagine that you have far more noise from the top being down rather than the PSE

PSE is inaudible at highway cruise speeds. You have to be high in the revs and hard on the throttle for it to make a lot of noise. It definitely does not dominate the normal tire and wind noises that this car lets in...

I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore. PSE on my 02 carrera cab was a great mod. Contact Lucent (Arling/Tom) for this setup.

The PSE ranks as my fav mod. I hear there were different versions of the PSE. I'm not sure if is true or not. Ask Arling (20C4S) at Lucent.

i say do it! if you can get it cheap then you can't go wrong. I don't think there has been a single person who's gotten PSE and hasn't been happy.

BTW, I have a 3.6 and PSE in the Bay Area.

I agree with everyone here. The PSE is a really nice addition and if anything it's still "very" quiet compared to the aftermarket exhausts. It doesn't claim any power and doesn't save any weight. So that's the draw back but if you're looking for "more" Porsche sound then it's a good option. It won't be loud in a cab. You'll hear wind noise more than you worry about PSE Done plenty of them over the year and there's always a few in the Bay Area where we are...

Actually come to think of it Orient Express on the boards here and in the Bay Area has one on his cab so that'd be a good way for you to find out

I agree with everyone else on the board that the PSE is a great addition to your Cab. I would recommend installing the switching electrics, as there are times especially when driving slow with the engine below 3K that the with PSE activated it sounds more like an engine with a blown exhaust manifold gasket. And there are times when you just don't want to listen to the exhaust (like being stuck in traffic).

Installing the electronics is not hard at all, it is just tedious. I broke my install into 3 parts and did them over a few days. You can put the mufflers in the car in under 2 hours, then install the vacuum system in about a like amount of time, and lastly run the wiring harness. This way you get instant gratification, then learn patience in installing the rest of the system.

But at speed this exhaust is the best of any of the aftermarket exhausts.

Here is my PSE install

You are more than welcome to drop by to listen to the exhaust.
