Tire choise for OEM rims

I have a set of Porsche BBS rims 8-18 OS52 and 10-18 OS65 for a 2002 996 C2.

The current rubber has to be replaced in the summer.

I was thinking
245/35R18 Hankook VNTS V12 EVO K110 front
285/30R18 Hankook VNTS V12 EVO K110 rear

Any thoughts on the size and model?

I don't think you need such a wide tire up front. Porsche recommends a 225 width, which provides plenty of grip with no issues. I don't know if a 245 would have rubbing issues or not. I've heard that wider front tires will cause you to give up a little bit of steering feel.

Tire brand preference is a very subjective thing. For every brand you'll find people who love it and people who hate it. I've tried many tires on my 911 and I know what I like. I've tried cheap tires and I've tried expensive tires. Here's the list of tires that I've tried and my order of preference:

1. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
2. Pirelli P-Zero Rosso
3. Hankook Ventus
4. Sumitomo HTR ZIII

For me, the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 is vastly superior to the other three that I've tried. They aren't even in the same league. I found the other three to be loud and to have poor tread life. The difference in handling was noticeable too, especially with the Sumitomos.

Again, this is subjective. I'm sure many people have bad good experiences with those tires. Personally, I won't buy Sumitomo or Hankook tires again. You might consider the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. It's getting fantastic reviews and it's less expensive than the PS2. If they ever make it in the proper sizes for my C4S, then I'll try a set.

On a 285 rear the 245 front is way too wide for a C2, especially not a wide body. I run 295 and 225 on my C4S which is stock, if I were to lower it I could go 305 and 245 which is what spacers would bring it to if I used the original wheels.

Currently installed tires are
225/40-18 (8-18/52)
285/35-18 (10-10/65)

Ok I can see, how about
225/35-18 and 285/30-18
I also plan to add 7/15mm spacers

IMO if you are going to add spacers go 17mm rear and 7-8mm front to keep the ratio close.

I would stick to the 225 in the front for sure and look to run tires that are tread block oriented not simply directional tread. I've tried and run all brands for different reasons depending on whether I wanted grip or longevity or a combonation and have found the tread block oriented designs such as Continentals Contacts, Michelin PS2, even Sumitomo HTZ3s have better grip and are more predictable in feel. That said, you get what you pay for on the grip end as the Porsche approved tires are much better - all are blocky tread patterns BTW. My preference has ended up with a good go between balance of grip and wear with the Continentals. Hope that helps!
