Final touch on the wing complete

I finally got my insignia back on the car and she is now, pretty much done, save for an adjustment of the lid on the right hand side, it sits a little high. And of course, a bath.

I just can't help but be a bit in awe at how amazing these cars are. Something as simple as giving her a car wash is so rewarding. She just turned 15k...so no garage queen here.

On a side note, I couldn't avoid a re-tread from a big rig on the freeway this weekend. It shreded part of my front bumper. YIPPPEEEEEEEEE!! I know that sounds odd that I would be excited, but now, I hoping the damage is enough to warrant a replacement bumper. Can you say Aerokit? Yeah baby!

That looks good, I really like your car.

In case you need help visualizing the new front end, I noticed one very similar here

how about that painted console and I've never seen door handles painted yellow either.

Robyn,

Your car looks AWESOME.

I have a question, now that the vent and fan is gone, how does it cool the engine? Do you notice any hotter temps?

Nice car!

ScottW - Thanks. I hope the body shop says they can't fix it. That would just make her all the more perfect (In my eyes of course.). And as far as the console, I am going with a Carbon Fiber one. I think it compliments the car color and black interior. (I already have the shifter and brake handle).

Scott in H-town - Thank you!! The wing was built with the area for the fan with vents at the top which are a bit hard to see in the picture. So I didn't lose the fan at all, it's still back there and working. I've only heard it kick in twice (since I put the wing on three weeks ago), it's a bit chilly around here lately. It definitely sounds different now that the wing is made of fiberglass rather then the metal standard deck. Here is a picture of the vents.

Oh cool. Thanks. I didn't know it had those.

BTW, were you actually saying "Yippee" right as you hit the tread? hehe That's an amazing sentiment!

Kirby put a GT3 bumper on his. I bet that would look awesome w/ that wing.

Yeah, I am totally excited about the hit. In reality, I was a bit bummed the damage wasn't more! We'll see what the experts have to say tomorrow when I take her in for the estimate.

If they say it can be fixed, at least I do get a freshly painted bumper and a newly installed clear bra for the price of my deductible.

Robyn,

For whatever reason, that GT3 wing looks even better in yellow than on some of the other colors IMO. Your car is just stunning! Congrats on the wing (and the bumper, I think...).

On the subject of your damaged bumper, I had something similar happen about four years ago. I was contemplating swapping out the chrome front grill on one of my other cars with a monochrome one (I wanted my whole car to be monochrome black). Just as I was shopping suppliers and body shops, bam! I got nailed from behind in traffic (which pushed my car into the car in front of me). It was a simple fender-bender accident and no one was hurt. However, the grill on my car was damaged and got replaced by the other driver's insurance company. Instant free monochrome grill!

Good luck with yours...

Awesome Robyn! Good luck...er...or...bad luck with the estimate tomorrow. A GT3 bumper will complete your car. If you get your bumper fixed or a new one I am planning on having a Xpel install day at my place sometime in January. I need to get it installed on my new bumper, they can also do your car after.

You've inspired me to look for a GT3 wing next year unless I can sell my car first

You know...that is just the funniest thing I've heard in a week!!

Not laughing at you, I promise! Just this wicked sense of humor I have at times. Would you believe, this last week, I've been smelling burning oil? Might be a cam cover leak. I told my service manager that I wasn't doing any ink for this one!! It was the real thing or nothing!

A Porsche that doesn't leak oil? Is there such a thing?

Robyn, Your car looks awsome!
Have you always been a Porsche Chick? Were you watching Smokey and the Bandit, Dukes of Hazzard, and Knight Rider when you were a kid like the rest of us?

Thanks Jeru!

Yeah, I have always been a Porsche chick (for 30 years). I was either four or five when I told my dad after watching this really cool car movie with him (Lemans ). "Daddy, I'm going to have one of those cars someday..." He thought I was joking. I literally saved my money and purchased my first Porsche cash at age 32. (It took me a few years to save 60k) I've always had a fascination with cars, but Porsche, I knew I had to have one of these from a tender age. Dreamt of a 928S4 for many, many years, then the 911....until I saw the Boxster. The Boxster is very much my personality...but I've seen the light. . But, still, I'll have another Boxster someday.

I loved all those car/guy shows; watched them all. (I had a crush on John Schneider!) Did my first oil change at 12 and first brake job at 18. (For a girl, it isn't too bad you know!) While my brother was out in the back playing with Hotwheels, I was out in the front with my dad helping (Handing him tools anyway!) him rebuild the engine of the Mean Green Machine (73 Montego sationwagon with a 351C).
