Question Rear Suspension installation on the C2

I wonder what's involved in R&R of the rear suspension setup?
Does the liner behind the rear seats have to be removed? and could it get back as it is without cutting up stuff?

I've read that certain things need to be cut up if you install a rear strut tower, so I'm curious if the same applies for removing the suspension?

TIA

removing and reinstalling that portion of interior that covers the upper strut bolts is not that bad, like you mentioned, it does need to be cut if you add a strut tower brace/harness bar.
the rest of the suspension very basic, as it is all accessable, not more then a 1.5hr job, the front is more involved just due to the steering components and you need to remove the plastic covering the under belly to get the sway bar out.

all in all you can do the rear with some jack stands and air tools in under 2 hrs.

forgot to mention you have to get a 4 wheel alignment following any suspension alterations...

Thanks

I'm thinking about going the M030 RoW suspension kit.

I thought the front would be very easy compared to the rear on a RWD car...

That’s what I installed on my car, the ROW 030, the thing is that the Suspension mounts are clear of any of the driveline, so it's quite easy to change, the problem with the front is getting the plastic shielding off and then you need a VW/Porsche/Audi specialty tool to get the tie rod ends off in order to slide the strut out. None of it is difficult if you are mechanically inclined, just there is a difference in the time involved doing the front VS the rear...and accessibility to that single specialty tool...

Great!

How do you like the RoW 030 compared to stock? was it worth it?
I'm going to be driving my car all year long including snow season...

ya, i'm happy with it, it did help reduce the understeer, is not as harsh as other setups and the roads up here in Canada are not the best, even if it is only driven in summer, so i went this route even though i really would have liked the PSS9s...
i'm about to add the GT3 sways, once they are in i think i'll be very happy with the setup!
for me it was the practicality of things, we just don't have good enough roads to warrent going with the PSS9s. i think with driving it in winter you are in a similar situation.

just noticed that you have the K&N on yours...what do you think about it...any real gains??
thanks

I was one of the 1st buyers of the K&N

There were some missing lose parts (screws, etc.) which was easy to manage. But other than that, I'm happy with it.

The gain is noticable between 4500-6000 RPM, and whenever I push the accelerator fully and the throttle opens wide, it sounds great!

I was concerned about rain and water, but so far it seems good with all the pouring rain in New England, the fine filter sock that gets put on the cone filter does a good job.
