I did the full system upgrade in my 99 C2 with factory HiFi system.

In the front I had a JL Audio XR-653cs 3 way component system installed. This consisted of a 6.5" in the doors with a 4" and tweeter in the dash. The 6.5" in the doors fit in the stock location behind the factory grills and was mounted on a custom baffle.

I replaced the rear speakers with JL Audio XR400cx, which is a 4" coaxial speaker. Honestly, I would not bother messing with the rear speakers as they are not heard. You can get all the soundstage you need just from the front system.

For subs I had a custom box built to hold two 8" JL Audio 8w0 subwoofers. The box was friction fit behind the rear seats.

I powered the whole system with a JL Audio 500/5 amplifier. This is a 5 channel amp that sent 100w RMS to the front speakers, 25w rms to the rear speakers, and 250w RMS mono to the subs. The amp was mounted in the boot in a false floor.

I initialy used a Sony ES headunit, but I would stay away from those. I upgraded the HU to an Eclipse unit and was very happy with it.

Overall the system sounded spectacular, especialy compared to stock. The key is to find a shop that you trust to do the install. A good install and tuning can make all the difference between a system that sounds good and one that sounds like a$z. The shop I used had prior experince working on Porsches and photos of the installs they had done.

thank you very much sloth~ another J.L fan~ yay.

anyway, i'm not sure if i would custom a subbox, but i'd rather attach my subs at the back of the back seats. i want to keep the back seats. tho.
but, do you mind telling me how much did you pay for the whole system? labor and equipment seperately ?

Here's what I have done...

In this picture: Two Audison amps - LRx2 250 and a LRx5 600 and my DVD/CD Changer by Alpine DHA5680. (Not pictured because it's hidden is the AudioControl Equilizer.

In this picture, my Alpine 7" monitor and head unit 7894 (XM/CD/MPs, etc.)

Speaker wise I am running 4" Focals for the rear (these are wonderful speakers, great highs) in the rear. Eclipse in the doors and A/D/S in the dash (Still working on these - not high enough for my tastes.)

In the rear, I am running two JL audio 8" subs in a custom built box.

(I knew I'd forget something!) I am running the Alpine XM radio receiver, which is mounted beneath the passenger seat and the Terk antenna which is mounted just on the other side of the subbox nearest the window. As well, I have the Alpine Nav system...I keep the **** movies down to a minimun while driving.

If you are interested in price, email or PM me, I'd be happy to tell you what I spent. And those nice little words displayed on the headunit are quite accurate of what I said when I wrote the check. You only live once, right?

Reus Is the Way to go......^____^

Allen, I live in Los Angeles, and you're always welcome to hear my new stereo system upgraded by Reus.
Everything is custom made, and I bet you that this system outperform a lot of system you see on the street with thousand watts...

I have 3 custom amps in total, and in near Summer they'll put in a fourth one for me for free just to make the mid-range sound better...
2 10-inch custom sub at the back with custom sub-box....
1 Sub in the front trunk.
all speakers replaced with custom speakers...+ 2 center tweeter in the Rear view Mirror...
in addition to the whole system, dvd player, dvd nav, xm stereo, tv tuner...
and the front trunk organizer is custom made too, with a quick release of the system. when going to track, you can take the complete system out the car in less than a minute...

just come check it out...^_^
and if you like it, give Rick a call @ Reus system,
tell him Kevin referred u,
he'll give u a good deal... hehehe...

Kevin,
I saw pics of your system on a different thread. Looks sweet. Reus in Orange County? Gotta check our your system. I'll see it or better yet "hear it" at the Feb 7 meet at Lucent.
