2002 C2 coupe - door window not closing properly, adjustment?

There may be a thread on this here but I could not find it-

Basically, every 3rd or 4th close of the passenger door on my coupe does not seat the window properly in the channel, it stays popped outside of the rubber top trim.
It seems that the window is not dropping down fast enough before the door closes, and I have to re-open the door once or twice to get it to close with the correct timing.
Is this a switch adjustment? My car only has 29k miles on it. any help would be appreciated.

i also tried rolling the window up/down several times to hopefully re-initialize things, the problem is intermittent but consistent.

ah hah! I see exactly what is going on now. Was outside messing with it for a bit.
It is supposed to drop 1/2 inch on door open. It is only dropping 1/4 inch sometimes, far enough to open the car door but causes binding when closing the car door.

if I open the door and it drops 1/4 inch, I can push the glass down the remaining 1/4 inch but there is some resistance, almost like something is not lubricated and allowing the glass to drop the full 1/2 inch.

Thoughts on what this might be before I go ripping the door apart?

now that is interesting...
I worked the drop up and down with my hand a few times (pulled the glass up and pushed down several times the 1/2 inch travel), and now it seems to work fine.
I opened / closed the door various ways trying to trip it up and it is ok. So maybe it was just sticky from not being used much... lubrication might be in order.
Will see if it stays ok or starts giving me problems again- Thanks to Loren over at renntech for his help.

Thanks- is the motor switch separate from the door open (located on handle) switch or the door close switch (located on door latch)?

The switches seem to operate ok, it is the length of the drop that is suspect. At times it did not drop far enough, although it did in fact drop / go up every time.

Since you could move the glass up and down 1/2 inch it sound more like the window regulator is failing. The regulator is the cable assembly inside the door that the window motor drives in order to move the window up and down. Over time and with use the cables get loose. There is no adjustment, just replace. Takes an hour or two as a DIY. Regulator cost about $200 and is specific side-to-side.

Dscott- Thanks for the info. I'm fine with taking the assembly apart to replace it, and yeah considering the 1/2" play that makes sense.

I will get to it in a couple of weeks (my time is way limited lately, new biz and all..) and will definitely post the results.

Sucks tho- The car only has 29k miles on it and the passenger seat looks practically un-sat in (guess the prev owner wasn't getting much action...lol) -Not much time or wear on the parts, really!

Did you recently have your battery disconnected? The window may not be synchronized any more and the motor has lost its hall effect signal of where it is supposed to be. I had this happen to me before. Hold the window switch down for a few seconds all the way down and then all the way up, this usually cures it. Goes the same for the other window and sunroof too. Good luck with the gremlins....

RocC4S - yep, tried the re-synching, no avail. It's an intermittent problem, sometimes it's fine sometime's its not.
