Finally my solution to MP3s
Finally my solution to MP3s
So I gave in and finally installed the Becker Monza... and I love it!!!!! As you can see, the interface is identical to the new Beckers that come in the '04. The difference is that this is not fiber optic and so will not work with '02 and newer models (plus the Becker Porsches won't play MP3s). This plugs directly into the existing CDR-220 cables. I can fit up to 10 hours of music on a single CD... effectively changing out an entire CD changer with every CD. Each MP3 folder is treated like it was a CD in a changer, so I can jump around the MP3 disc by folders. Life will never be the same again.

Darren,
I checked out the Monza it does not illuminate in different colors but different color backlit versions are available. (i think there are 5 in total, red/green/yellow/grey/blue) 1 CD can hold anywhere from 10-12 hrs worth of music or approximately 150 MP3s. So depending on how big your MP3 collection is, you may be able to fit all of them onto a few disks. Hope that helps.

Darren, No, not me, I was looking into this for my '03 until I found it didn't work with MOST. Here's a brochure on it from becker.de. One issue that you may face is that the AM tuner has different spacing than the US frequencies, so it may not tune to AM. I don't know if that's an issue for you.

Darren,
thats a lot of music! Would take 40 - 750MWCD/Rs
I found one other very understated MP3 player that I thought was pretty decent and wouldnt look too gaudy. Its a pioneer. Not too much bling, and should allow the AM tuner to still work. Here is a picture its model # PIO-DEHP77MP
hope this works.. have never posted a picture on here yet...

Darren:
don't throw away your radio! It is cheaper to just enable the AUX-in on your CDR-220 and use your iPod. That is what I did, and now I have all my music, and don't have to worry about burning CD.
Get the AUX-in kit from Becker. Call them at
(201)327-3434 x 1209, or (888) 423-3537 x 1209. The kit costs less than $20, and takes about 15 minutes to install and configure.
