Bought another 996...why is it doing this...?

Hey everyone, just picked another 996. Its a 99 C2 6spd with only 53k miles. As I accelerate in any gear, 1st-5th and take the foot off of the gas it seems to jerk back. Example: Cruising in 4th gear and on the gas, I let go of the gas...1/2 second delay, then the car jerks. Its not completely abrupt and it doesnt clank or anything like that. Its definitely noticeable.

In my 01 cab, I know when you accelerate hard in for example 3rd gear and quickly let go of the gas it will ever so slightly jerk, but there is no delay and it is nowhere near as noticeble as the coupe.

Thanks everyone, getting worried...all help is appreciated!!

Mine does not do this.

I have a 99 C2 since new. Mine doesn't do this. I would look for loose bolts or worn suspension parts. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I took it for a ride again and its definitely "tugging" back after yet let go of the accelerator. No matter what gear, at any speed. Its weird because there is literally a 1/2 second delay after I let go of the gas, then it "tugs" back at you.

Maybe it has a light weight flywheel installed. When you let of the gas and the system shuts off the fuel flow the engine would tend to loose RPM very quickly.

Check the free movement of the throttle cable, clean the throttlebody and idle control valve. Also check with a scanner that your throttle is openning 100% at WOT. This is done with key on, car off and holding the pedal to the floor. If it is less that 100%, remove cable from throttlebody and twist it 1 turn and reconnect. Test again.

Service writer did a test drive only: said, "seemed fine, there maybe a possible issue"

Tech did a test drive only: said same as above
