He didn't have anything on the car. He went full bore naked! I'll let him chime in about that.

I live in Bellevue WA and I bought my 997TT at Carrera motors in Bend OR, I drove 350 miles back from Bend OR to Bellevue WA without any protection film, not a single rock chip on it (at least I can't see it) ! I have the protection film put on the very next day !

I was going to have Metropolitan Detail do the Ventureshield clear bra, but decided to bring it home to have an installer closer to home in case there was a problem sometime in the future. The day I picked up the car I noticed the very pronounced yellow film that is factory applied forward of the rear wheel arch. I never noticed this on my Atlas C2S , but on a white car it is very apparent - and unacceptable. I'll have to get it replaced with clear coat Ventureshield. Jason - remember the rock chip Larry thought he spotted on the lower rocker that was painted over? Well. it isn't a rock chip...it is a shallow triangular depression that Porsche molds into the rocker to assist in locating the jack hard point - there are 4 of them. I'll bet yours and Larry's has them too.

But I did get one small rock chip on the lower spoiler lip. It is so small (not larger than .020") that I had to be on laying on the ground to see it. I will have to see what the local Ventureshield guys have to say about yellowing of their film, but if it will soon be like the factory film I will forego the clear bra.

It was a spectacular drive through Washington, Oregon and California! Not much traffic, clear open roads and lots of spirited driving. I found the overboost to be lots of fun, and had it up to 155-160 a few times. 20 years ago I would have been doing a chip touch-up in Redding - but I don't obsess about this kind of stuff any more; I'm on a 12 step program. It's not my life; it's a car - so I drive it!

Dick

I think you made a good decison ! Same reason why I didn't have the dealer in Bend OR to have the clear bra put on my car !

About 600 miles more to go tomorrow to get home to Yorba Linda. The car looks like hell, but I'm sure it will clean up nice when I get home. Surprisingly, the oil level has remained constant throughout the first 700 miles - still registers full (not overfilled though)

Pics when I get home and wash it!

Where abouts in Yorba Linda neighbor?

Yorba Linda Blvd and Imperial. I'd really like to hear your AWE exhaust! I heard Jason's Cargraphic when I met him on Wednesday night in WA - where are you in YL?

I went to Cars and Coffee this morning to see if anyone had a TT with an exhaust - couldn't find anything except stock. C&C was off the hook today - never seen it so busy!

Anytime. I live real close to you. I'm up Bastanchury off of Lakeview. How did you like the Cargraphics exhaust?

Dick, it was nice to talk with you during your trip back from Bellingham. Jason had sent me the pics and your car is STUNNING! I am very partial to the white you know!! I will be anxious to hear about the ventureshield on your white - keep us posted. Perhaps when my TT comes in about three months, I can pop over to Jason's and be turbo #5 in that parking slot. So glad you made it home ok and had a fun drive. Beautiful car.
