Which Tuner!!??

So from memory, the more popular tuners to get ~650-700hp from 997TT are

Ruf
9ff
EVOMS
Protomotive
AWE
Tech Art
Gemballa
Cargraphic
TTP - Turbo Tuning Pietz
Sportec
FVD
Tym Switzer

Two questions -

Who have I left off the list? (Sorry in advance)

Which have you used and why?

I know this is a question that could lead to flaming etc - but if you can limit your answers to your own experience (i.e. only those who have used the tuners) and not flame or criticise any contributors TIA... otherwise this could get messy!!!

That should be Ruf with one "f"...some would consider its wrong spelling sacrilege...

The list is very long...most if not all Porsche tuners can achieve those numbers.

Better to check the kit you will get is good compared to others, whether its the best price (only some turbos and a flash could do the job) or the best real-world performance (more parts changed for more reliability etc.) you are looking for. It also helps the company has good service and is easily reachable for you.

A couple more 650hp++ options:

- Cargraphic (the famous RS-Tuning does the engines so their performance is astonishing compared to the numbers they claim...and so is their prices...Ruf might be cheap )
- TTP Turbo Tuning Pietz (They got various packages at those power levels and they have been in the scene for years...Great performance as well.)
- Sportec (a Swiss tuner with quality)

I think you'll find that all of the tuners you've listed can achieve or come very close to your desired goal. What will be the biggest decision maker will be how accesible these tuners are to you.

From personal experience, I can only say that I've driven in the EVOMS EVT-700 and I was very impressed with both the driveability and power. From traffic light to traffic light, the car behaves very much like a stock car, it idles smoothly, and accelerates nicely under part throttle. When you hit an open road and REALLY hit the gas.....I can't describe the feeling of how hard that car accelerates. At one point the car was accelerating so hard I thought the front wheels lifted off the ground.

If it was my choice, the EVOMS EVT-700 for sure. I had an opportunity to drive it and the drivability of the car as well as the power delivery is just plain Awesome.

It seems to me not many tuners go to the internals up to 700HP, except 9ff?

So "basic" ~700 kit is

Headers,
Mufflers
CAT's
Enhanced VTG's
Bigger Intercoolers
Pop off valves
Air filter
Tubing and piping
Software
Clutch upgrade

Allot of the above is pretty standard non technical stuff. The only real variance can come in build quality/software/service/support - which is by no means negligible.

BTW I am based in the UK so service/support here would be invaluable.

The Switzer Intercoolers are just massive.... and neatly made...

EVOMS are very thorough and down the road they will have additional bits to go on I am sure.

Eclou's AWE write-up is also very interesting.

Still got to find the right donor car to kick in the pants though. This will be a weekend car / keeper and want it to be a real occasion when I get in and drive it....

My only concern is support out here in the UK! But at least we have 98 RON fuel....

One question re a donor car would you suggest a chrono package or not - seems like it wont really be necesary unless I am running two ecu profiles?

Mike you are right. Those monster I/C's and Protomotive ECU / VGT work is ideal.

Just got to find the donor now...

The AFR's on the EVOMS page dip to just above 11 on their max power run. Is this not a bit tight ito of safe limits? I would have thot 12+ would be a safer margin. Dunno what fuel that was used though.
