All Season Tires

Well track season is officially over for me so I gotta get the MPSC off the car.

Can anyone throw up some links where I can order some A/S tires in OEM sizing?

I tried looking at tirerack but I dont see anything, whats everyone running?

I just bought some Pirelli Sottozero 240s off Damon at Tire Rack. Needed balancing which I had done at a great place in Port Chester. PM me and I can shoot you some details. They seem good so far...only have about 100 miles on them. Much squishier than the summers but they apparently rock in the snow. They're not A/S...they are snows.

I've done the same, good choice I think. I don't think you want all seasons for your NY winter - an accident waiting to happen.

We only get 1-2 weeks of snow, so mostly Im just looking to not get caught out there while driving home. I've driven the summer tires in the snow in Pittsburgh, wasn't easy but I was able to do it.

How decent are the snows in now snow weather, and 40-50 degree temps?

Winter vs snow

The "snow" tires we are referring to (Sottozeros) are better described as "winter" tires as the rubber on summers get hard and start to lose their gripping power (read longer stopping distance, some say by 1/3) a few degrees above freezing. The Sottos are excellent at these cool temperatures as well as in the snow and ice (see Tire Rack reviews for more comments). If you have summers I hope you will go with the winter tires as they will serve you better on both cold dry roads and in the snow than so called all seasons.
Keep safe.

docjackson1 is infamous around these parts
i agre with the rest-there have been plenty of articles on this, but all seasons are a waste of money, even if you drive it in snow one time. they just don't perform well in the snow. if you are going to drive your car on cold winter roads, you need winter tires. running all seasons all year cheats the car 12 months a year. call damon at tire rack and get the pirelli sottozeros

I went out for a nice 75 mile loop up in the country this morning. The Sottozeros are very nice. It was about 49-51 degrees and while they don't handle like summers they have a nice progressive feel to them. Some of the squishiness went away - turned out the tire place had the fronts at about 37 cold. I adjusted them down to 33 cold (f) and 39 cold (r) and they feel great. With the leaves and occasional puddles I felt very confident. I too run MPSCs for part of the summer owing to track days (11 this yr) but otherwise use the PZero Rossos. As mentioned by others they do get ROCK hard below 40 and that is the main reason I get real snows.

The tires on our sleds turn to stone at 32 degrees. The handling in dry is significantly reduced ... and forget about what happens in wet and/or snowy, icy conditions. Performance snow's need to be looked at as an 'enhancement' to the performance of the car during these winter months. These tires will also give you the ability to avoid all those other ****-canal-street idiots who don't drive on anything more than baloney-skins. I lived in NYC too, and it's like roller-derby on ice when the snow comes. In P-burg the hills, suburbs and roads require people to get snows, it's a whole different ballgame in NYC.
Hope this helps your perspective "RAIYU".

Sounds like snows are the way to go, does anyone know where I can pick them up online in OEM sizing?

Are there any brands that make OEM snow sizes?
