IPD Y-Pipe
IPD Y-Pipe
Just got the IPD Y-Pipe installed yesterday as a test run at BBI Autosport. They didn't charge me anything. I don't have to pay until I decide to keep it. I am just testing it to see what the differences might be in performance.
I will get some pics uploaded over the weekend. I am putting my butt dyno to the test this weekend. I will post my impressions soon. Since I have not paid for it, my posts will unbiased. Stay tuned.......
Anyone else running this part on their 997TT?

would like to see what it can do to an evt 700..
did you have the enlarged TB with it? (gt3 83mm tb?)
thanks
Doesn't the AWE bolt on kit already have a large bore throttle body mated to a CAD designed plenum? Why would you want to switch it?
Yes, it does have a larger throttle body and plenum but not a y-pipe

Ok guys. I ran the IPD Y-Pipe for about a week or so and felt there was a kick in the midrange compared to stock, but we felt like we really needed to put the car on the dyno. I just got back from dynoing the car at SP Engineering.
The cooling was not sufficient in my opnion. They only had medium size fans in the front. They specialize mostly in imports and they didn't have the additional fans needed for the side and rear intakes for the 997tt's. We felt like there was more power to be had, but the cooling wasn't allowing us to get there. Either way, the guys at SP Engineering were great to work with. Special thanks to Eugene for letting us use their facility. If you own an import, this is the place to go. They gave me a ride in their modded GTR. It was friggin FAST!
I will scan and post the dyno chart as soon as I get a chance, but here are the initial results with and without the Y-Pipe.
Max Torque 594 ft/lb at the wheels With Y-Pipe
Max Torque 581 ft/lb at the wheels Without Y-Pipe
Max HP 470 awhp With Y-Pipe
Max HP 464 awhp Without Y-Pipe
The biggest gap in HP came at 4100 RPM. 443hp with versus 427hp without. A difference of 16hp.
The part that puzzled me about this test was that my car produced a lot more torque than I thought and a lot less HP than I thought.

So what's the verdict?
More testing? Better Dyno runs, I have to imagine those numbers are flawed.
It sounds promising and I would love to see some pics
Although I understand why we wont get a chance to see it until the final release
Any clue on price?
Thanks!!!

Actually, I will get some pics as soon as I get it back. IPD is going to powder coat one in red for me.
The verdict? Well, it did show pretty good gains in torque and hp. That you can't deny. When I post the dyno charts, you will see that the torque and hp peaks earlier with the Y-Pipe and holds it longer too.
Maybe down the road I will get another dyno run done, but with better cooling. That I assume will actually yield even higher Hp and torque numbers?

Thanks for the work!
Do you have the stock TB on your car?
