Turbo Cabs were not offered until model year 08 . Only the coupe was available in 07 . An 08 leftover can be purchased for 30K under MSRP if a dealership has any left and a used CPO low mile 08 car will run about 45K under MSRP .

It's not every day that a poster wants to buy a 150K car when he doesn't "really know anything about it."

Others can't digest the car ownership experience for you . Drive the car.
Then you can ask questions which linger after the test drive to get a full perspective before you decide .

Good luck.

i totally agree. test drive the vehicle first. a rear engined sports car is a totally different ANIMAL(esp. a modded one) than a front or midengined car there are great deals to be had! in some markets its a "firesale good luck with your search; it's a great car you will not be disappointed. just be aware of "moddingitis sydrome"

What AMG do you have?

Search around this site for Manheim pricing for your 07 TT.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies so far. My current stable consist of an 07 S600, 03 SL55, and 06 RX400h. I use to have a Viper so I do know a little about sports cars. I have never driven a turbo porsche and I didnt even know that cabs were not offered til 08. Thanks for the info on that yrralis1. I would like to know how the porsch ride compare to the sl55. The viper was too rough for me as a DD. I have 2 lil girls and would like to be able to take them on rides with me so porsche is on top of my list so far. (M6 conv. 2nd)

tt hands down! ride very good, can be used as DD. i have 4 kids and they love going for a ride. they pretend it's a rocketship (will feel that way after the mods) good luck; best purchase you make (make sure to find a reputable tuner/ worth the extra $)

I see what you are trying to get from the car. I don't like the M6 and none of the BMW convertibles appeal to me. I would say the same with Porsche except I recently drove forum member BabyMd's C4S and really liked it. The wind deflector and door sill height was ideal for top down driving if that's what you find appealing . I don't . The idea of road filth blowing on me as well as my car's cabin would drive me nuts . Add to that the acoustics and performance deficit and the potential for leak . I am just not a convertible guy .

The SL blends the hard top with luxury but also adds so much weight .It's refined and well made but lacks the road connectivity of Porsche . It's small enough to not be a comfort car and heavy enough to lack sports car feel. It may be fast in AMG form in astright line but that's all its got and even that is no match for a modded Turbo.

But then you propose a fun car with kids on a Sunday drive and the Turbo cab can do that. A sport exhaust and an Ecu flash can spice up the car too but if you really want better performance the coupe is the way to go. The structural rigidity and top up gains plus the 2007 pricing make that car the modern day bargain .

I would take a coup right away if it was just for me but my daughters love a convert. I used to own a sc430 and they loved it. I hated it. Can someone who owned a benz sl and a porsche please let me know how the 2 compare ride quality wise. Test drive is never the same as owning one. Where should I look beside ebay for a good 08 cab? What price range am I looking at? TIA

I can answer one of your two questions . Where to look --Auto trader might be a better choice than e bay because it will show the CPO cars . A "certified" car has to meet certian criteria to allow for an extended warranty . If buying a manual I do recommened that even if a car is CPO request a DME scan to detect engine over rev history . Also check the paint for any overspray or gaps . Request service history too to see if any issue repeats .
One other cjoice is to call individual dealerships and see if they have an 08 leftover . Some might and it would be a new car at a reasonable cost.

Many Porsche saleman won't let you test drive their 100K plus car if they think you just going waste their time. I had to be prequalify before they even go outside and greet me. I just buy it somewhere else and come back to that dealership and buy a license plate or an accessories and rub it in there faces

I'm going to a porsche dealer this weekend to test drive the car. If the saleman is rude I might be turned off and just leave. I hope the car out performs all my expectation and I can stand the saleman. Wish me luck.
