Guys, can you help me? Please check your car...

Went to use the windshield defrost/defog button the other day as I got caught in a downpour and it was hot & humid out. A/C was on, but as soon as the defrost button was pushed, hot air came out (onto the windshield). There was no way I could get cold air. All other cars I've had allow cold dehumidified air onto the windshield. Is this normal for Porsches?

I called the dealer to book a service appt and the service advisor made no mention that this is normal operation, but I've done some googling/forum searching and wonder if it is indeed normal for these cars but I haven't found a clear cut answer. Can someone check their car to see if it does the same?

Thanks.

Thanks gmoney. You just saved me a 4 hour round trip drive to the dealer. Surprised (and a little concerned) that the service advisor didn't know this was normal.

Don't bother with service -- that's the P-Car. No matter what time of year, if you use the defroster, you get hot air. It used to drive me crazy -- I guess I got used to it -- and would find workarounds, depending on the season.

Why didn't the service folks know that??

Your guess is as good as mine. I wouldn't think I'm the only one who has ever questioned this so I would think they should know this is normal. I would have been pissed if I had wasted the day to bring the car in, only to be told it's normal.

Thanks. I'll try that as I won't be using defrost in the summer again. It felt liked I was thrown into an oven.
