Help with Decision plz...

I'm torn between 09tt or 10tt. I currently own 09 c2 pdk. I somewhat dig the pdk trans on my car so I'm leaning more towards 10tt but..

I've heard you can get pretty good discount on remaining new 09tt. How much can i expect?

Also, I do love the exhaust note of gen1 997s. I think with the dfi and pdk, the new tt's exhaust will sound more or less like my current 09 c2, which i'm not too thrilled.

But then again, you think it is not prudent to buy a 09 tt when a new 10 tt is coming out? Dang I don't know what to do...

You can get 15 percent off an 09 .
You'll pay MSRP or near it for a 2010 .
Big price disparity but if PDK is what you are after then the 10 is the car to get. It's a new engine though and the Gt1 engine it replaces is one of the most reliable I have ever seen . Plus the tuners have really mastered the current 997tt. Do not buy an 09 Tip though . It would have to be a manual .

It would be a huge step from your current C2 .. no matter which you get .
It's almost worth it to keep your C2 and buy a CPO 07 997tt unless the ipod and such are really a necessity even if it were to become a weekend toy .

Thanks for detailed/simplified response. But then why not tip? I was actually thinking of getting tip if I go with 09. I know how to drive manual but i'm not too good at it. Don't i have to be really good with shifting to truely enjoy tt?

An 09 Tiptronic will be instantly a dated car because of its transmission competing against the more sophisticated PDK . You coild probably get an amazing deal on an 08 or 07 Tip . In fact you might even find an 07 Tip in the 80's which would save you a ton of expense with under 10K miles. I'm not really sure about pricing in Hawaii though .

I won't suggest that you learn how to drive a manual on a tt though. It's a skill that ought to be somewhat pre requisite as the car is so expensive .

If Tip Vs PDK is up for first choice price will play a big part of your final decision because the range 07 used 997 Turbo tip - 2010 Turbo PDK can be a 70 grand difference .

Leaving price out . The PDK really is the most updated but it's new engine long term reliability isn't known yet.

I'm back - It took me 5 minutes to make up my mind .

Given your specifics ... I woild pick the PDK 2010 .

It has all the new technology , and the transmission update which is what locks in this car as my first choice if a manual transmission is omitted.

It seems like a good choice if you don't like a 6 speed. However, it will be more difficult to modify if that is of interest.

Keep in mind the 09 has the race proven gt1 based engine and g50 manual transmission, all made in Germany. The my10 tt will have a pdk but a 'new'/cheaper/unproven/consumer grade motor or a japanese transmission(manual), all done on the cheap. These 'improvements' have all been poo-pood by us purists. I suspect the 997tt.2 will depreciate like a boulder, worse than the 997tt.1, just my take. I would only get the 2010tt if you get a decent discount and the pdk.
But, if you're looking at 15% off on a 09, it's a no brainer. Like getting a discount on a Rolex vs a brand new Timex.

gotta agree!!!!

there are big 09 discounts out there, and some great deals on 07/08 CPO cars

but in the end you have to get what makes you happy or you will regret the purchase
