Just got my car back 2 days ago for RMS replaced under warranty on my 997 TT with 10K mi. Looked under the car there it was size of a baseball oil leak! More than before. Hope this time it gets fixed. How sad is this I waited 2 weeks to get my ride back the first time.

 

That is unacceptable from a dealership. I don't see why they didn't verify the repair after making it

 

I've never heard of a RMS fail on a 997tt engine, and only once on a 996tt. The problem is rampant on gt3's.

What is RMS?

 

RMS = rear main seal.

 

Is your car a 3.6 or 3.8?

 

i've never heard about RMS failed !!!

 

Its 3.6! could it be something else then the RMS. That's what the dealer replaced and still have leak!

 

This is what leaked in 24 hours. Looks like oil to me!

 

It looks awfully dirty for fresh oil (and they should have changed the oil when they replaced the RMS).

 

Good point, it should look cleaner than that since its been replaced few days ago!

 

There are other threads on oil leaks . Each of them ended up the same where the person got another car.

Sorry about your trouble. This car had an ECU upgrade right? Did the dealer replace RMS under warranty even with the tuned ECU?

 

Yes, its got a ECU upgrade. RMS was replaced under warranty.
