Bit the bullet!

New to the boards, but I've used it as a searching place for weeks now. Just picked up an 08 turbo. Thanks to you guys, I knew how to read the DME info, what options to look for, etc. So, thanks for that!

Anyhow, wanted to say hello.

Now, down to questions.

First and foremost, before any cool mods like exhuast, I need functionality. I listen to music (ipod) and I'm usually attached to my iphone.

I see the denison (spelling might be off) stuff at bumperplugs, both the main unit for music, and the bluetooth attachment. Anyone used this setup? I'm sure for Ipod it works great, but the bluetooth attachment, whats the sound quality like? Last experience i had with a bluetooth car, the sound quality to the person on the other end was not acceptable and I never use it.

Secondly, until I do something along those lines, can I just stick my Iphone sim card into the sim slot and use it on the car itself? I'd think yes, but.. And I dont know if my car has the phone option (its being shipped here as we speak) it has the little phone icons on the top left buttons, but, that may not mean anything.

Anyhow, thanks again, this board has been so helpful when searching for a car.

Congrats on the new car! To answer your questions, the Dension unit is great. It features bluetooth and ipod that both work great. It also has an AUX input so if you want to add Satellite radio down the road, you can do that as well. Seems to be the top choice for adding these features. Technically you can slap a SIM card into the slot and use the built in phone, but then your phone is left crippled. You'd be much better off getting the add-on unit.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. I'd be happy to go through your options with you and answers any questions you might have.

I've got a Dension and Cargraphic exhaust. The stock stereo is fine at idle, but when I'm doing any sort of spirited driving with the windows down, i can barely hear the ipod playing. Which is fine by me 9 times out of 10, but if you are a big audiophile, then you might want to lay off the exhaust.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Just an FYI, we're running a great deal on the Cargraphic Race exhaust system right now. Let me know if you're interested, we can work something out.

emturbo/tom, the exhaust, how loud?

I was looking at the fvd to begin with, only because people are swearing up and down there is no drone. I want a car I can occasionally take on longer trips, so drones are bad.

Here's a video made of the CG Race exhaust in a 997 Turbo Cabriolet, equipped with the EVOMS EVT-750 package. I can honestly say the sound is perfect. It's a little louder at during the initial startup, but even the stock exhaust is. Once it's warmed up, you can hear in the video how it sounds at nearly every rpm range and under load, revving, etc.

Have you shipped any of these to the michigan/indiana/kentucky area? I'd love to hear one in person. Being optimistic, I know.

Has anyone in Washington State had a denison unit installed? I would love to have the added benefit of dedicated ipod but am hesitant to let someone without experience try and put the thing in.

getz, from what I can tell, it's super easy to install. I'm sure I'll be doing it VERY shortly and would be glad to help out (I happen to work for an automaker and am an electrical engineer.. From the looks of this, anyone could do the job!)

Cool. Does it just plug into the trunk near the CD changer?

From the looks of it yes. You remove a panel in the front trunk, splice (not as hard as it sounds!) the fiberoptic line, and then just use piggyback wire clamps you can get from radioshack for the power and ground to the unit. That looks like all! Can't get much simpler then that. I don't have a CD changer, but I'll take pictures when I do the job.

Valex,

Congratulations on the new purchase!!

If you are interested in our exhaust's I will be happy to help you as drone is of utmost importance. You have one of the most civilized interiors ever offered in a turbo porsche and I am sure you don't want to detract from it. The people you have spoken to are right, no drone to be had in any of our systems. Simply put:

A. 4 muffler sound levels:

1. TUV (Quiet) ~ 85 dB
2. Sound Version (Medium) ~ 95 dB idle & partial throttle to 98 dB wide open throttle
3. Sound Version (Loud)** ~ 98 dB idle & partial throttle to100 dB wide open throttle
4. Valved Sound Version ~ 85 dB idle & partial throttle to ~ 106 dB wide open throttle

For reference stock is 75 dB

**All of the Sound Version mufflers are now slightly more aggressive sounding outside and even quieter inside between 1,500 to around 4,000 rpms. These are the 2nd generation sound version mufflers and all of the sound version mufflers from now on will be shipped like this.

B. Each of available in bypass, 100 cell or 200 cell.

C. Tips are sold separately now! We have also reduced the pricing on the mufflers.

Link to the exhausts...

Feel free to email me or pm me for further details.

Thanks in advance for your time,
Rhonda
