Official 997.1TT weight loss thread
Can someone (with more knowledge than me) do a post like the following 996 post:

Have you read the thread on the 996 forum? Its quite informative. I dont understand the point of your post other than to thredjack. I see that you have lots of posts, so you should know better. Btw, i have enjoyed reading all of your posts, except, obvioulsy, this one
well this is true, but when it comes to accelerating at the drag strip, losing any weight unless it's from a non advantageous point like the front or rear for weight transfer, is good.
Losing lbs for any street car makes them feel quite a big quicker especially when you get over a couple hundred out.

whoever gave me a "negative rep" for my reply to TTSurgeon, you are wrong. this thread should be about weight loss. It can really be an informative and helpful thread if folks would just stick to the subject matter and let others know how much weight savings can be achieved by certain mods or removing unrequired parts. replying "to what end.." is off point and not relevant to the point of the tread. That's all. My reply was not meant to be personal, and I cetainly do not mean to suggest any disrespect to TTSurgeon. I just want to get this information without the thread getting clogged up with nonsequiturs. No need to neg rep me for wanting that, and further, the ability of anyone to do that sort of thing is one of the weak points of these forums that will lead to new members like me not wanting to stick around.

I took no offense, not hijacking your thread, just asking what's the end game on a 3700# street car, that's all. My opinion is that worrying about weight loss on these cars is a waste of time, unless you're seriously wanting to race, then you've picked the wrong car to setup in the first place.

Not to take sides, and I don't think TTSurgeon meant his comments to be taken as blatently critical of your thread, but I can see fastlaw's point.
There are a bizillion threads about power gain on this forum, why not one on weight loss? I for one would find it pretty informative to see what people have done on that side of the equation.
(This coming from someone who chose a wheel that was slightly heavier
than stock because it was what I wanted and I'm really not a believer in a few pounds up OR down having much of a noticeable impact on a street car. But in the interest of learning, I am still curious about weight loss!)

Driver side GT2 carbon seats in leather are 38.7 lbs
Driver side GT2 carbon seats in cloth are 33 lbs
Driver side sport seats are 43.2 lbs
Driver side adaptive seats are 62 lbs
If you had adaptive seats, your weight savings would be 45-50 lbs for both front seats (as the passenger seat is heavier by 3-5 lbs in all versions of Porsche's current 997, Cayman/Boxster seating.) Still...pretty good weight savings.
The stock OEM 997TT exhaust is 45 lbs. Unless you are running catless straight pipes, your weight savings may not be 40 lbs.
