looking for input on steering wheel material
Getting new wheel made, but undecided between leather on top or carbon fiber. I have never felt a steering wheel with carbon fiber. Any down side to it, such as being slippery or uncomfortable? And if I don't have any other carbon fiber in interior would it look out of place just on the steering wheel? Thanks in advance for any input.

Had the carbon fiber pkg. in my 07 997 including the carbon fiber/leather multi function wheel. Liked the look and feel. In my opinion I dont believe carbon fiber on the wheel and no where else will look bad. You could always add a couple of small pieces to tie the look together. Good luck!
Just the kind of info I was looking for. Probably going to stick with leather. Thinking of doing smooth leather on top with yellow center ring, perforated leather on sides and smooth on bottom. In a thick style with flat bottom.
I had a partial wood steering wheel once and hated it. Personally, I like full leather, with perforated leather at 10 and 2. I had wanted to do something like the wheel attached (yellow instead of red though) but have not done it.
I also considered a flat-bottom wheel, but I think is ultimately a bit of a waste because the diameter from top of the wheel to the flat bottom is pretty much the same as on a standard round wheel. The whole point of a flat bottom wheel, at least on our cars, would be either: 1) aesthetics or 2) to improve the ease with which you can enter and exit the vehicle. If the wheel is is the same size top to bottom, then aesthetics is the only thing left.

Yea, I loved it so much I saved the photo you posted. Hope you don't mind - I probably should have given you credit, but I was in a rush. I still need to get mine done.
That wheel looks really good! Who did it? My 5 yr old likes riding in the Porsche too. Start them while their young. lol I had a 08 Subaru STI that was getting 385hp at wheels. Fun cars for sure.

Get it. Best interior mod.
I agree. I was all set to take the plunge. I even purchased a used wheel on eBay that I was going to send in for the core, but it ended up being a scam. I just gave up after that but this thread has reignited my interest.
You might contact SharkWerks or a couple of the other sponsors and see if they have wheel you can borrow for several weeks. Yes, several weeks. TechArt is the best but they do not specialize in fast turnovers.
It wasn't a company, just some joker who wanted the payment sent to an unverified PayPal account with a different address than the eBay listing. This was all after I already had sent the payment to the verified PayPal account. I just contacted PayPal and they reversed the charge.
