Yes, its always recommended to change all four at the same time when driving your car hard/tracking it. Its tough to chuck those fronts when they look new. With 9 track days they are far from new and have loss their performance window, therefore they cannot match that of the new rears. Good thing you opted to change them before tracking it with the mixed combo....would have killed your DE/track day.

I have gone two sets of rears for every one set of fronts on my wife's 911. Although her car was a DD and didn't see the track but once.

10.08.2012, Thunderhill Private track day.

12 Cars

No Run groups, Open Practice from 9:00am to 5:00pm

THREE TANKS OF RACE GAS // WOT

It was a great day except for one close call.

A late 90's Firebrid TransAm Race Car lost its rear axel right in front of me coming out of turn 12. The axel was flying across the track (left to right). I slowed down and started tracking to the far right trying to avoid getting hit or impaled by it. The car behind me went left not seeing it until he was almost right next to me. At that point not sure what happened but the axel hooked-up and flew through the air. This time not in my direction, but now flying across the track right to left and over the front end of a 08 Carrera S Cab! Thankfully it completely missed him and the axel ended up in the dirt on the inside of turn 13. Needless to say, now there was transmission fluid all over the track from T12 to T14. Lets just say, transmission fluid is very slippery when going through 14.

DIY: Cobra Sebring Pro Technology // Custom Black Label

FINALLY INSTALLED!!!

Good God this was a lot of work (just ask any shop). Nothing came easy and it all involved a lot of sweat, frustration, and in the end, some very sore fingertips, (don't ask).

I almost gave up and dropped everything off at the shop. However, I didn't want this thing to beat me. I wanted to do it myself so I could fully understand the process and easily switch them (the seats) back and forth between events (OEM vs Aftermarket).

I now have a pretty straight forward "plug-n-play" system. Just undo the 4 floor pan bolts and the set-up comes out as one unit. I have quick snaps on the waist belts and the sub is mounted directly to the BK rails. I'll try and post some more pictures/better ones in time.

I'll be testing them out in action this coming Monday with a Hans Device and a 170 mile (one way) commute to the track. Unfortunately no R6's this time around. I ran my RE-11s two weeks ago and they performed well lasting about 24 minutes before getting greasy. This was their first full track day. It will be interesting to see how long they go on their second full day.

Cheers,
VID

Hey Guys, Thanks! Looking forward to finally being strapped in and down. Definitely a PITA getting in and out of on the Driver's side. Passenger side is a piece of cake. More than likely I'll leave that seat in place. However, I'll be swapping the drivers seat back to OEM early next week seeing as I actually drive my car daily.

A-80: Nice Pumpkin Patch image you posted recently!

Thanks D, curious why is it harder to get in the driver's side? I'm assuming because of the steering wheel?

Can't wait to see it in person this weekend an get your reaction while we are up at THill. Weather is still calling for rain which will really blow. You can pull some serious Gs at this track and looking forward to strapping in as well.

A-80: Yes, the steering wheel. Even tilting it up, it doesn't give me much extra room...

Seats are currently "fixed". Meaning no sliders. I may opt to add a slider to the driver's side in the near future if it gets to be too much of a pain.

Another Rain & Shine Day with the RE-11’s

All-in-all it wasn't that bad of a day. I woke up at 3:00 am anticipating wet weather, and it had already started raining. We had about three more hours of sleep before our wake-up call... 6:00 am, still raining...! On the drive to the track the rain was just about gone. However, things were rather saturated with this being our first big storm of the year. Tahoe received 2.5 feet of snow over night! Crazy!

Our run group was the first out for the day, lots of standing water and soupy muck if you went off. Not pretty. Things began to dry by our second session of the day, still some puddling here-and-there with wet and greasy curbs. Next was our qualifying session (S3).

My master plan was to switch from "R" to "A" in order to better my qualifying chances. There were 31 cars in R and 14 in A. This completely backfired on me! Right as I opened my car door to start crawling in, the skies ripped open and dumped heavenly tears down upon us. Thus, the track was flooded for my qualifying session and only about four drivers went out. It stopped raining about midway through the QS and then the sun came out and the track started to dry. I stayed out for the full 30 minutes just too ensure "R" had a nice dry track/line for their quali !!!

P4 went really well and there was a ton of grip. I turned a high 2:05:ish. I only ran five laps because I was out of gas !!!

P5 had the best conditions for the day and of course since the RT (Race Team) was done they had taken down all the timing & scoring equipment. Etchhead had set me up with Harry's lap timer the night before. It actually worked quiet well. Unfortunately my phone rang while I was on the pre grid and it stopped the system! Because I was strapped in and had my gloves on I couldn't reach/touch the phone to cancel the VM and return to Harry's. Ugh!

HARRY’s Laptimer Videos:

Not the fastest, cleanest, or prettiest laps, but still pretty cool for an iPhone (4s). Timing variance is roughly +/- .05-.10 compared to our AMBit system. Sometimes it was closer, but I'd say its typically +/- .06. Now I just need to make sure no one calls or sends me a text while I'm out on the track so it doesn't stop recording!

Cheers,
VID997

1) 207.20 with Harry's (AMBit 2:07:16), with a few puddles still on the track, temps around 52º, crubs are WET! Catching a Corvette

2) Catching up to that same Corvette again and Etchhead in his 996TT. Still damp with a few puddles hanging around.

3) Continued lap/s from above still chasing Etchhead

4) This is a video of Etchhead chasing me!

Great videos and glad you finally got HLT working. I love the overlays, pretty helpful to run comparisons to see where improvements can be made. My brakes are completely missing on the front right wheel. Now need to replace rotors and pads with something much more compliant to track abuse. Match that with new tires and I'm coming for you VID!

^^^ "...and I'm coming for you VID!"

Bring it on EH...cuz I'm huntin' down RW and his little Orange Beast!

When EH said he had no brakes, he really meant, NO BRAKES! The Picture on the left was taken while we were exiting Thunderhill. EH had stopped before getting on the main road and said he was hearing a grinding sound. This is what we saw. He drove 170 miles home in the rain like this! Hats off to you! If you look closely you can and see cracks in his rotors as well.

I had a flat front tire the next morning. Turns out the TPMS Valve had loosened up and was leaking. Re-torqued it to spec and all is good thus far.

DIY/FYI: TPMS Torque Spec 10Nm
