Hey Barry, Thanks for the images. How is the finish holding up? Is it painted or Powder Coated?

The fit & finish looks really clean. I'll try an order one on Monday.

Been pretty busy of late, haven't time to post any MOD updates. Currently I have quite a few sticks in fire and hope to everything wrapped up by the end of the month.

Did you attend the UPCC Concorso? Heard there was variety of nice rides on display.

 

A couple of nice looking customized Harley's, some '50s, '60s and '70s American iron, and a few interesting Euro cars, but not really that much to see...for me anyway.

 

I have always wanted a Power Wagon and a El Camino SS....came across this today....not sure if I should pull the trigger or not. It needs a lot of love. But then again don't we all....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...project or not..........

 

D- it says Kilroy and has chains... We need this for our new tire hauler. Plus think of the money I would have saved trailering my car back from THill last year!

Think "The Taka" would drive it for us? They told me its totally functional and in running order!

I'll have to do a little more research...a lot of these were 3 speed manuals and had a top speed of 45mph. We'll need to do some serious mods to get this thing to hum along comfortably at 90+mph!

Also Taka will require some serious A/C and iPhone, iPad, and XM compatibility...LOL!!!!

 

It was that time once again for new rotors and pads. Probably had these installed 3 weeks ago and haven't had much time for a proper bedding-in session. Since the install, I was able to put 300 miles on them. However, they were still shiny silver and hadn't gotten "heat synced" with the pads yet.

I had some time today to go do a proper bedding-in session.

Quick re-cap for you guys on the Bedding-in Process:

1) 60-40mph Gentle braking to get some head built up (4-5 times)

2) 60-10mph HARD braking almost to lock-up/ABS (8-10 times). I only went down to about 20mph.

3) 80-10mph HARD braking almost to lock-up/ABS (4-5 times). These I did go down to 10mph.

4) I also did a couple 90-20mph...OMG! Once heated these things are amazing!

5) Lastly 60+ mph cool down session with no braking. I did about 15 highway miles right after the hard braking session for this.

Rotors went from a nice shiny silver to a blue & dark blue streaked heat soaked "hairy" surface. Job done correctly all within a 36 mile driving excursion.

Amazing pictures. How do the re-11s compare to the stock ps2s in the rain?

 

Just an fyi........corded my rear Re-11 this past weekend. 5000 miles and 8 track days. 3 degrees negative camber......that is all.......

PS Stock PS2's are a very poor tire compared to the RE-11. No idea about the PSS although I was playing with a GTR at the track a couple of weeks ago that was running the PSS's and he was very quick (and talented).

Thanks. As for PS2's unfortunately I cannot answer that question. My car came stock with Pirelli P Zero's which I managed 7,500 miles including 4 track days. The P-Zero's are no RE's, but for a "generic" OE tire they were not that bad, more than likely a better DD rain tire then the RE's. MPSCUP's however, roughly 2,000 miles and 2 track days...DONE....terrible in the rain. My first set of RE's went 8-9 track days and 10,000 miles with a mid alignment.

Putting mileage aside, EIGHT track days with MINUS THREE DEGREES! You should be very happy with that. Three degrees is pretty aggressive for a street car especially one that gets driven and not trailered. I was able to get 8-9 days out of my last set of RE's, although the 9th day was terrible and I packed up early. (See page 6 Post # 82: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-re-11s-6.html )

Bonehead is selling a new set of Trofeo R's if you like to try a set out and do a write-up....my guess would 4-5 track days and 2,500-3,300 miles for $2400 plus install....too rich for my blood.

I'm quite pleased with the RE-11's durability and the performance is superb for a street tire as well. Most of the guys I regularly run with are in Hoosier shod GT3's and are understandably a little (not much, just a little ) faster than me. However, burning through $150 worth of Hoosier's each run session for a few second advantage in a DE doesn't yet resonate with me. If I can figure out how to keep my tires hooked up when coming out of the slower corners which I've been working on with a pro instructor, I think I can find another few seconds either on the RE-11's or the R-888's which I plan to try next season.

Thanks for the advisement on the Trofeo's but I gotta admit I'm a bigger fan of Pirelli's calendar than I am of their product. Just personal preference, I guess. Best,

 

Update: After replacing the rear RE-11's and driving 250 miles, I've decided to replace the fronts as well even though they appear to be in good shape with plenty of tread, etc. With new tires just in the rear the car's handling was totally transformed and not in a good way. Much more "darty" with a greater tendency to snap oversteer. That kind of drama I don't need. Best,
