Do any of you guys have experience going from an RE-11 to an r-comp or slick and if so, what is the performance differential? Thanks,

I went from MPSC's to RE-11's. Huge difference in predictability, increased run times per session (meaning they could run longer before letting go), overall they last much longer for both track and street use, and cost considerably less. Also, the fronts are now available in 245/35/19, which will help aid in deceasing the understeer these cars tend to have.

This year I have been running Hoosier R6's...night and day difference. Its a completely different car. Once you start running these you'll never want to run a street tire again.

Somewhere in the thread I have review of the R6's in comparison to the RE-11's. I'd say you could see up to 4 seconds or more a lap quicker with the R6's

Last outing at Laguna I ran a 1:40.05 with corded front R6's. Later in the day I ran a 143.26 with the RE-11's and a passenger.

Just got some new suspension bits, a more aggressive alignment, and fresh R6's mounted up for this coming weekend. We'll see how she goes.

Is the write up from the first time I was actually able to run the R6's under ideal conditions last year.

What sizes are you running with the Hoohoo's? Where did you source them? TR doesn't have the 245's on their site.
Do you do an initial heat cycle and let 'em sit or just run them out of the box until they cord?

BH,

R6 245's WILL NOT fit up front! Their 235's run extremely wide!!!! In fact they are so wide, they rub on the wheel wells when running R6 235's on our GT2/GT3RS wheels and lowered suspension.

I just had my car set-up this week with a more aggressive alignment and the R6's were rubbing on the side marker lights at the front of the wheel wells and just in side the fender liner. They had to make some additional adjustments to the "caster" (rake in motorcycle terms; meaning steepen the head/steering angle). Seems okay for know. However I'll be keeping a close eye on them this weekend. We didn't have any rubbing issues with the RE-11's on the CMS RS 171's rims, which actually have a more aggressive offset.

Hoosier R6's
SIZES: 235/35 Fronts & 315/30 Rear
HEAT CYCLE: YES
PURCHASE: TireRack

Cheers

^^^ Enrique, They do not offer a 245 for 19 inch rims. The 235's were actually rubbing the front metal edge of the fender arcing back 4-6 inches with my previous alignment from Champion. Hopefully this new alignment will eliminate these issues.

JWE did drop a 160lbs of lead in the drivers seat while doing the alignment and "squaring" the car.

Good to know As it stands, I barely have enough clearance with the 235/35/19 MPSC's. I know the R6's are more squared off, so I can see how rubbing would be an issue. Suppose a bit more neg camber would solve that issue.
Did you have TR heat cycle them for you or did you run 'em yourself?

^^^ Bonehead, keep in mind I'm not running any spacers up front with this setup either. I am able to run the 7mm's on the rear's with the 315's though.

I have TireRack do the heat cycling.

Still find it strange that I need 7 up front and 15 in the rear to get flush fitment with my current setup and you're not even using anything in the front. Diff tire manufacturers couldn't account for that big of difference (if you recall my pics, my wheels looked VERY recessed into the wheel well).

Anyway, if I go with this setup, I can always toss the spacers if I run into offset issues. Thanks for reminding me.

325's?

D
Did you ever consider a 325/30/19 R6 in the back? Bigger contact patch but may not help the understeer issues. Although, you're already going plus size over stock in the back, so......
Don't even know if it would fit??

Yes, I recall the huge difference you and I were seeing. I believe RUF and I were much closer in appearance and fit then your car. Barry is also running 7mm's (I believe)?

It could just be in your alignment. The "track" of are cars can be adjusted. They may have pulled yours in to accommodate those 20's your were running at point???? Just a thought....

Never made any changes to the alignment before the 20's went on. Mystery that may never be solved

Did you do the twenties at the same time you installed the coilovers?

Oops! RE: the 325's

Yes, I have considered running them. I believe they would fit without any issues. However, I am concerned they will just add to the understeering issues.

More meat, more, grip, more pushing of the font end around! The key is getting the front end to stick so we can enter faster and then start applying the throttle sooner.

Nope wheels went on long before the coilovers.
