Differences between 997 GT2 and GT2RS

Is there any comprehensive info on this?

One thing I do know is that the weight of the GT2RS (~150lb less thank the GT2) is widely marketed with the free A/C delete which accounts for about 75lb.

FWIW, part numbers for pistons and conrods are different on the RS. Turbochargers are the same.

Do you have the part numbers for the pistons? I'll see if they cross reference.

I thought 996TT/GT2 were 9.4 rated and 997TT/GT2/RS 9.0 ?

We had one on the lift here for a little while and the turbochargers are different. Our initial impression is that they're the VTG's off the .2 turbo, or very similar in size. We didn't have enough time with the car to really "explore"

Correct on that one.

Don't quote me on this one, but I *think* the intake manifolds are different too. Again, not sure...

Hi Tom...

I thought the turbochargers for the GT2, 997.2TT and GT2RS are all the same?

Well the part number of the intake manifold is different but my tuner has seen them next to each other and they looked absolutely the same with standard aluminum GT2! I wish someone would know if there is really any difference really in the RS intake..

From another angle,

On Cars.com there are:
  • a new RS for ~$273,000,
  • an '09 (600 miles) for ~$182,000 and
  • an '08 (16 miles)for ~$180,000.
Is the new RS really worth almost $100k more from its predecessors... from a technological & performance standpoint?

In case I hit it big , I need to plan...

There is no question that the RS is a special car.

I guess my point is that for 110-130K + a flash isn't an GT2 close enough?
