upgrading 997.2 turbo 6speed manual

Friend of mine with 997.2 tubro 6 speed manual looking to upgrade his car. Since the PDK limited the engine modification on the 997.2 this project should be interesting one. I would highly appreciate everyones input regarding what to do and what to avoid. I have read a lot about the new IC and how good they are but would still consider after market IC. Same with the exhaust.

The confirmed modifications as of now are:

PROTOMOTIVE tune
PROTOMOTIVE IC
BMC air filter

considering:
modified VTG ( don't know which spec )
high flow cats exhaust

For everyone with helpful information, please share it here.

thanks all

Clutch disk and pressure plate, not sure if Porsche upgraded the OEM from what the 997.1 came with.

Agree with all but the ICs, by far the least bang for the buck. I'll leave it at that.

are you referring that factory IC are sufficient and upgrading the intercooler will not add anything ?

You need to upgrade fuel system for 997.2.

Agreed. You'll run out of fuel before you reach the limit of even the stock turbos. You'll also really want to make sure you upgrade internals. The stock rods tested about 25% weaker then the 997.1 rods.

I'm pretty confident that no one has really gone as far as we have in development of the 3.8TT. Others may debate about the rods, but trust me, there's no debating the fueling issue...

Have you guys made any further progress in your efforts to solve these issues with the 997.2?

Yes we have for sure. The reason I haven't posted much is because we've moved the development project off our War Admiral car onto a new subject. But I just can't post any pictures or info on that particular car just yet...

Believe me, you guys will be the first to know when there's new updates or breakthroughs. Right now the biggest issue has been clutch material. We've found clutches that can handle more power, but just not enough power...yet.

I've been wanting to build a 6 speed car for a long time, but they seem to be pretty rare. Any volunteers?

I have put into consideration to go with higher HP output kits i.e alpha or gt30 but my biggest concern is Porsche made the gt2 based on the 997.1 engine, so that scares me a little on how far we can push the 997.2. I doubt it’ll make as much as the new gt2RS, otherwise, Porsche would have used the new platform.

You are correct. There are some definitely weaknesses in the .2TT motor when compared to the 997.1TT. We know for sure the rods are weaker, for starters. The engineers at Porsche are very smart....there's a reason why the PDK and fuel system limits were set where they are.
