PCM2 replaced with the Pioneer AVIC-X940BT
Per my earlier thread: My gf got me both the Pioneer AVIC-X940BT and the Kenwood DNX6190HD for Christmas. I ended up going with the Pioneer. The only "functionality" lost was the song title display in the tach which I can live without.
Hurley's Audio in Tysons Corner installed it along with the traffic module and an ipod connector cable for ~$550. It sounds great, is easy to use, and I was able to import a Porsche splash screen using a microSD card.

Do you still have all the programming functions that came with the OEM equip?
For example, chrono clock, interior light dimming etc." Boost pressure, TPC, GPS, average speed, mpg and miles remaining, so I assume they are still displayed?
On the PCM, we have the choice of controlling the daytime running lights and the ability to control the interior lights along with activitating the rain sensor option for the wipers, climate control and the ability to control the locks
With your new system do we lose any of the above options?
Thanks.

The ability to change those options is gone once you swap out the PCM but the settings are still in place. The boost, tire pressure, etc still show up in the tach.
The shop that did the install was very anti Denison. They said they've had a bunch of complaints and they can't get ahold of anyone at the manufacturer for support. I'm happy with this; I wanted something as OEM looking as possible with a **** and a few buttons. I really hate pure touch screens.

I am so afraid of touching my car
(leave well enough alone) since if/when something goes wrong with these modern cars, it could be such a headache. But congrats on your successful "adventure."

It seems anything you can still mess with anything you could program/select with the steering column and window in the tach. I haven't seen any odd warnings, glitches, etc. The nav is infinitely better.
Everything is set the way I like it and to be honest I'd rather have the nav and reliable ipod connection than the ability to make such granular adjustments. In the event I need to switch back and forth between the pioneer and PCM Hurley's audio in Tysons said they would do so for $150.
I completely understand the want to keep the PCM but in the event anyone was on the fence this definitely works well and is very reasonably priced.

I am having the Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH installed as we speak. It is being done by my Porsche dealer as I was leery about having my local guy tear into my GT2. Labor rate is probably double but we don't have any car audio people in my area (that I know about) with experience in very hi end cars. The Sport Chrono in a GT2 does not do much as far as performance settings go and my car does not have it so I never was able to change the comfort settings myself anyway. Need to have the dealer do it with their computer. They are adding iPod, rear camera, & SiriusXM with the Pioneer modules. The only regret is just after I purchased the AVIC-Z140BH, Pioneer came out with the AVIC-Z150BH.

how did your swap to AVIC go?
My PCM is acting up and while I am reseraching fix, I am looking at worst case scenarios too (getting a swap).
Looked at the AVIC-Z150BH and would add rear cam and android cell connection too.

...will be good to hear from him, but based from my observations, whatever settings you could make from the PCM unit would be gone. Doesn't mean the ability to set would be gone, just gone from being able to set on the PCM (since it is being replaced, right?).
So things like trip, mpg info, units, etc, would be not settable from the replacement unit anymore.
However, many of these same functions to set are available to set from the instrument cluster. you can set clock, units, see mpg info, etc, etc without having to look at the PCM, so IMO the stuff that you cannot do after removal of PCM would be minimal (calibration based on tire size would be gone though - not sure how that affects the average user).
At the end of the day it will boil down to choosing between having a nav/gps/radio/dvd/cd unit that works, or having the original until that is defective in some way and not being able to use it.
I definitely choose the first.

I couldn't be happier with the kit... Everything that was set pre-swap retained its settings and everything except the radio station appears in the appropriate window under the tach... However as a side note I'd advise everyone get their coolant hoses checked out... I haven't seen the car in ~6 weeks or so since the coolant hoses became "un-glued" and it's sitting in the shop getting the tubes welded in place =/
