Im in the process of replacing my exhaust. Is it normal to have this much debris on the top of the intercooler?

 

I’ve got everything in these? Too bad there wasn’t a few thousand dollars.

Good question. If I had that many rocks hitting the car it would be completely metal. Is this normal?

 

Look for intercoolers it's very bad! But this situation can happen when you drive off road ))) just wash them and put back

 

Thanks, How can i clean them? Should i use compressed air or use water. Maybe a pressure washer?

Looks like gravel trap rocks .... It happens ... If you're not careful

Noob question, with that much debris, wouldn't the intercooler fins on the surface be damaged?

 

I have had the car for 6 months or so. Fins look ok, just lots of rocks. I understand where the air comes from but, I am not sold on the rocksentering the same air intake.

 

I think i may have saved at least 20 lbs. with this discovery.

 

Have you recently tracked the car or did the previous owner ? Look like it might have went in to a gravel trap and never got cleaned out especially if you don't have many rock chips on the bumper or hood. The Radiator Fin Tool also will help with removal of some of the smaller items.

 

There could of been some jackass that thought it would be funny to to add gravel by hand.

 

my thoughts exactly when I saw the third pic. If you have that many rocks enter the intercooler ducts, then the painted portion of the ducts would be completely speckled with rock chips.

 

I agree. There is no way this came through the side intake. I’m not sure that even a gap in the tire well would cause that much.
