Cleaning boost sensor?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can clean the boost sensor in the Y Pipe?

I have ordered another, but I have to live with no power in the meantime.

P.S High voltage is the error.

Yikes! I know that BMC filter sure caused you some issues but have you checked whether it's nice and dry in the throttle body, y pipe and R/L intercooler hoses? I dropped my Y pipe just this week and she's all as dry as a bone in which was pleasing. I had to drop it because it popped the hose on the throtttle body and wanted to check if any oil was lubing the the mating surfaces even though at the outset it appeared to be just the clamp not being tight enough. If you are getting any oil residue or excessive vapor build up that may also have some bearing on the issue. Have you tried some spray to remove any oily vapour residues first?...or is the sensor unrecoverable?

It seems dry enough. I wonder if it is fumes from the breather pipe. What sort of spray should I be looking at?

No the breather doesn't feed into the ypipe or TB so that shouldn't be doing it. If it's all dry and no residue to speak of when you run your finger around the inside of the intercooler hoses (and ypipe) where they connect to each side of the y pipe then thats a good sign.

I use a product called 3 in One professional "Contact" cleaner....(a WD-40 product). It works really well in dissolving grease oil and dirt, quick drying, non conductive, leaves no residue. They quote it as a "precision electronic cleaning product"...exactly for what you need. You can get it from super cheap auto $10 a can. You should try it first before giving up on the sensor. It has a small red plastic cap, the can has black band on the top and then is all light blue...you cant miss it. Its also great for cleaning the rubbers so they really grip on the TB. Just make sure to tighten the clamp and use a small short ringy after you've tightened it first with a stubby screwdriver and give it a couple of extra turns but just be careful not to over stress the grub screw and make sure the clamp is sitting perfectly square around the area which is slotted internally to give it purchase. I use a special adjustable mirror to inspect it from under neath too because its very easy to over look the hidden base of the rubber not sitting properly square...same with the clamp. This thing has to hold a lot of pressure .

I assumed that the smaller corrugated black plastic pipe connected at the back of the air box on the right-hand side was the breather.

Thanks for the advice. I will get some of the spray tomorrow and give it a clean.

P0238 Turbocharger boost sensor "A" circuit high Upperlimit value exceeded.

If you reset the ECU the car runs normally on the first one or two boosts, and then starts to error and vent the boost.

No, but I have Durametric, so I could get some. I just need to work out how to do it.

Have you tried flashing it back to the stock file to see if the same problem exists?

I grabbed some CRC MAF cleaner and sprayed the sensor at the parts shop. Problem solved. I will replace the sensor when the new one shows up next week anyway($50 part). Hopefully nothing else is contaminated, and about to fail. I am going to do the intercoolers and hoses soon. I might give everything a clean when it is apart.

Thanks for the help..
