The BEST exhaust for the 997TT POLL
Can you describe more about the Ruf exhaust. I came across an older post where a number of exhausts had been tested for HP/TQ/ sound DB and the RUF in this test actually had reduced HP/TQ in the mid-upper range. Would hate to take a step back. This post was several years old so I dont know how accurate it is. I would love to hear your view of the Ruf exhaust
I just hear the cargraphic exhaust in a 997TT and for my taste is the worst exhaust for the 997TT... (Please don't be upset with me if you don't agree this is just my opinion)
The 997TT with the cargraphic exhaust sound like a caterpillar

I have done almost all brands of exhaust ( fabspeed, Cargraphic, fvd, europipe, Protomotive, ruf, techart and akrapovic ) in terms of sound I can't say which one is best as it is personal taste. I can just give u two comments about akrapovic ( sound very similar to factory and quite ) ruf ( it is factory modified system )
For performance the best to go with Catless system. My best result was with europipe and Protomotive.

All due respects Chris but from what i'm told it's just a gundohacked oem system with a ruf badge and price tag. Nothin to get too excited about. Couldn't imagine it being anywhere above anyone else's game for that matter...that is if it is even in the game at all. Have you ever driven a car with one? Or heard one in the flesh? I guess one good thing would be it should sound like a porsche and not some sick tractor like some systems i've heard raved on about. Thoughts?
Yes, driven and heard several. It's a lot more than a "gundo hack" whatever TF that is.
They change the cats and completely rework the internals just using the oem shell, not a garage job at all. Yes, the Ruf is cost prohibitive for most.
Have you ever heard or driven a Ruf?

Edit. ...and no cant say i have at this stage in the game. Would like to though.

This i would agree with 100%. For 8K you have the titanium and the Akra technology to go with it. The Ruf may well be fine but to say it's on the same footing as a titanium Akra i would find that hard to swallow. If i was prepared to unload 8k on any system it would be a no brainer to get the Titanium Akra. Actually for me personally i would just by the EP and keep the change as i couldn't justify spending 8k on a system unless i just won the lottery plus any weight reduction would be very hard to feel on a car of this power anyway. I think anyone to say otherwise is splitting hairs and maybe should apply for the red bull F1 racing team lol.

Oh dear here we go again. Can we make "Best Exhaust for TT" a sticky. A subjective argument no one will win until the manfufacturers agree to do a shoot out. I have Tubi, I enjoy it, I've been in a car with Europipe/flash just as mine, its a different sound yes, is it worth 2 k more as a used product no. Paul I know you've mentioned that stock for stock on a car without a flash Europipe brings out the best in performance, cant argue that as I have not experienced this myself.
All exhaust for TT's on throttle will sound the same, I've tested this, they all sounds like jets taking off. There are subtle differences inside the cabin(drone) cold start, and idle but again nothing substantial from what I've experienced.
Potential buyers do your research, listen to the exhaust live and go from there.
I'm not advocating Tubi since it's on my car, I hate the turbo sound, wish I had a GT3. My 02.cents

With automobiles and components there is always a means to establish a pecking order particularly where quality, durability, reliabilty and performance is concerned and if you or anyone else are unable to determine which is better than the next and, what is worth more $ than the next offering is really of no concern to me at all. With any automotive product the order is always established at one point and usually never by just one person either. I can understand an owner of a Hyundai saying to a Porsche owner they can't see the value....this does happen. I've seen it as i see it here on these forums where these parts are concerned. It's a joke.
Where these AM systems are concerned quality and performance is most certainly quantifiable. Sound? ....well everyone has their take on that one now don't they? That said i see "drone" gets muddled up in this subjectivity routine but funnily enough the manufacturers all seem to know exactly what drone is and how to quantify whether it is acceptable for 99% of the buyers of their vehicles and/or OEM products. With aftermarket exhaust systems things get more blurry as there will always be the users that will say "OH", "it doesn't drone" or "OH" it doesn't go any better or, "OH" it's not worth any more money. That just goes without saying.
Anyway, I can't be held solely responsible for those that are simply unable to determine the difference between $h1t and clay (even if they taste it). Thankfully there are many that can and coincidentally it evidently appears the greater majority of guys with these super quick or modded 997tts chasing the times and so forth are able to tell lol. So, maybe ask some of them for a change why they stumped up the $ and chose an EP. I'm tired of being the whipping post for calling a spade a spade.
And, if you feel they all sound the same then what can i argue? If you are happy i am happy. I know i can tell there is a difference so thats all that matters to me.
