Extended warranty
Extended warranty
I own a 2008 turbo cab with 40k miles. My CPO expires in 2 months. I am looking at a third party extended warranty from Auto Advantage that will cost $5800 and provide me coverage for another 5 years and up to 100,000 miles. I do not plan to sell the car anytime soon, but if I do, the warranty is fully transferable.
Everything is covered with the exception of following exclusions (taken directly from the brochure):
Policy Exclusions:
(The parts listed below are not covered. Therefore any part not listed is covered under this coverage per the terms of this agreement):
Any servicing, maintenance, tune-ups, oil changes, fluid replacements, etc. as recommended and required by the manufacturer including adjustments and alignments (except when required in conjunction with a covered repair). Any part to normally designed to be serviced or replaced within usage during the life of the vehicle, such as, but not limited to: filters, lubricants, coolants, fluids (except when required in conjunction with a covered repair), spark plugs, spark plug wires, glow plugs, light bulbs, fuses, brake rotors, brake drums, brake pads, brake linings, manual/hydraulic/electronic clutch assemblies, shock absorbers, battery, battery cables, throttle body assembly (except injectors), exhaust system (except manifold), belts and hoses (except A/C high-pressure hoses).
Is this a good purchase, or is it more cost effective to "take my chances." In don't track the car, and I rarely break 100mph. Ok, 120mph.

Sounds like a great policy with minimal exclusions. I haven't heard of the company though to know if they will actually pay.
If I could get that same warranty from Fidelity I would in a second.

I bought an extended warrenty directly from Porsche when i purchased my 09 997tt, and have absolutly no problems with them servicing my car.. Call your local dealer and see what company they recommend...
Better yet, ask your service advisor which of the aftermarket warranty guys are the easiest to work with. My dealer sells one brand but SA recommends another.

Bad idea. I had my tip transmission replaced at 30k miles for a leak. Covered under warranty. Cost? $15k. These cars are way too expensive and costly to repair outside of warranty. Plus it just gives you added piece of mind. I got mine thru fidelity right before it hit 35k miles (you get price jumps at different mileage points) for 5 yrs 60k miles, $250 deductible for $3600. One major issue in 5 yrs is likely to happen and it'll more than pay for itself. My 2 cents
