Horn Beep When Lock?

Is it possible for the horn to beep when locking the door using the remote? I was able to do this on my 996 but could not find anything in the owner's manual. The manual says it will beep if the glove box, etc is open but I want it to beep all the time so I know the doors are locked.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Adam

I got the beep, among other amenities, when I purchased and installed SMARTOP on my cab. It included a number of features that you would otherwise think should have been included by Porsche. I think there are after-market options for non-cabs as well.

From what I can tell, the horn only beeps when a door is open and you lock the doors. If the doors are closed then we just get flashing lights.

If someone knows of a way to turn the beep on for locking, like every other car in the world, then please let us know. Right now I find that I have to check to see if the door is locked after pressing the lock button.

Unfortunately this is the only solution -

http://www.mods4cars.com/sms/shop/in...ode=view&id=49

I've learned to live with it - door locking is so loud I can hear if it's locked. Also, if you lock the car then inadvertently unlock without opening a door, the car will lock automatically in 30 seconds or so. That gives me some comfort if I get the lock sequence out of order.

Mine beeps if any of the doors are not closed, as a warning sound. I'm glad it doesn't honk every time I lock it! heheee, sounds horrible

My wife's bmws have always issued a discrete chirp whenever they are locked. It's a feature that I really appreciate and wish more cars would come with from the factory.

I vote for less noise pollution - the door locking solenoids are loud enough for me to know the doors are locked.

I just wanted to follow up on this and tell you that I do get two faint horn beeps when I lock the doors if I lock the doors with a single push then wait a second and do a quick double press. I can post a quick video and a "how to" if anyone wants to know how I do it with the remote.

After reading the owners manual it says a double beep is a failure in the system but I have no codes and it is locking the car.

Ok so after looking at the owners manual, I went around the car to make sure everything was secured, I checked the glove box, doors, frunk and engine bay to make sure they were latched properly.

Well turns out one of them must not have been latched fully because I can't replicate the beep now. I am thinking maybe the glove compartment wasn't fully latched.....

But that gives an option if you want the beep, just leave your glove compartment slightly cracked opened

Sorry for the false hope guys!

malignancy is infamous around these parts
So my 997T Cab has just started giving me the horn warning when locking. Everything (doors, glovebox, frunk, and engine bay) is all closed up tightly. I’ve recently misplaced one of my keys (can’t find it anywhere!) and thought maybe it was in the car somewhere and the ECU was trying to warn me that the key was still within range.
Any other suggestions?
