Is there a way to tell if your 997.1 TT came with the factory SSK? Would it be an option on the window sticker? While replacing my console i'm going to want to make sure I have one. Just need to diagnose if I already have one

THx

I hear the 997SSK from the factory is the best option for our cars.

Option code XCZ...but previous owner may have had it installed after purchase. Lots of pictures in the forum of what it looks like once you remove the shifter boot and consol - you may be able to tell from a visual. IIRC, the SSK has a distinctive blue plastic part...but a picture will help you. Good luck.

I would disagree - I happen to find the numeric racing shifter is the best. I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but I've never missed a shift or had any issues using it.

Good choice either way

Just a couple weeks ago I was about to go for the GT2/GT3 factory shifter, with its metal bushings and somewhat shorter throw vs. the stock 997; but, I went for the Numeric and am extremely happy. It costs a couple hundred bucks more but I would definitely recommend it over swapping-in another factory shifter. Installation is essentially the same for any of them - a DIY job if you are so inclined.

there are 3 main ssk's that people use

probably the most popular is the B & M, then the factory ssk, then the numeric (its the most expensive so thats the main reason why its not as popular as the others)

i have been using the b and m my cars and love it, the action is kind of like a bolt action rifle, some thing its too notchy and prefer the factory ssk, ive never used a numeric but havent heard of anyone complaining

there are threads discussing the topic, its a good idea to read a few before committing, its not like its a 3 second job to switch them out

Thanks for the feedback, Numeric is about twice the price of the 997SSK, heard B&M is notchy. So for the price the 997SSK seems to be the best bang for the buck.

But I checked and no i don't have the OEM SSK... darn.
