BTW, We'll see how others pan out. I may have just had some bad luck, but I am not super happy with how square the studs are. Visually they are square, but you can measure that they are not. Looking into it. Ill have a delay while I have to disassemble the heads and open the holes to 1/2".
Anybody know of any 997.1 engine cases around if I decide to redo it :-/
What are you guys using to seal the cam/lifter "plates".? Manual says drei bond 2210.. gotta be something I can get local.... thanks!
Porsche lists their "goo". I don't know why they didn't use rubber gaskets with stainless inserts where the bolts tighten? Would make sense on a high end engine. I'm tempted to use clear silicone...... But.... It's not easy to fix a small leak once the engine is in. My suggestion, but the goo.
The special goo is usually just an off the shelf rebranded stuff. I mean, at the end of the day.. all engines are SO close to the same in this regard.. alum/alum, similar temps and chem resistant requirements.. *shrug*.
I need a refresher tho:
In that pic.. is the black thing a gasket? I am 99% sure it is, but it didnt come in my gasket kit

Yes, that is a gasket. I remember them from the removal .... Weird it didn't come I your kit, I haven't seen mine yet to know if they are there.
Silicone is a very universal high temp sealant, I'd imagine it would work perfectly as it does on very other engine in the world, but..... I don't know what the Porsche sealant costs, but the thought of a small oil leak does not excite me ... I'll buy their inflated priced sealant just to know it's not the sealants fault If I have a leak.
+1.. On pulley bigger contact surface and holds more power... I would reconsider the on from evo...
the evoms pulley is smaller in diameter to slow the accesories down. its also press fit for a slight but more sturdiness. that being said the bbi or proto pulley works as well as evoms
