I have a manual transmission 997.1 C4s with multi function steering wheel that I want to retrofit with a 991.2 steering wheel. If i wont be using the Multifunction button do i still need the GPS adaptor and steering column module 997.613.289.01 for the 991.2 steering wheel to work or its just a straight forward swap?

A 991.2 Turbo wheel might fit on a 997 column physically, but it won’t bolt straight up and won’t work plug‑and‑play without an adapter/clock‑spring solution and likely some wiring changes. Earlier 997.2 wheels work because the airbag/controls are the same generation, but the 991.2 is newer tech. You’d need:
• A 991.2 → 997 steering boss/adapter
• Modified clock spring/squib connections
• Wiring for buttons/controls to match the 997 BCM

It’s doable with custom wiring and adapters, but not a simple swap. If someone’s done it, it’s usually a fully customized install.
