Strangest situation ever.
So, with the 997.613.289.01 module with my new airbag and wheel, as mentioned the horn constantly honked.
So when fuse pulled, I tried to go for a short drive around the block.
Nothing in the steering column works. No turn signals, cruise, wipers and the horn doesn't work either.
Went back in a third time to triple check and decided to install the stock module to see how things reacted.
fuse reinstalled.
stock module back in.
everything is working again, except the horn.
I have to take the car out to clear the pasm faults and see if I get an airbag code.
Maybe I will need a GPS adapter...
I hate throwing money at problems, rather than getting a true diagnosis of why my car is the exception of not taking the swap like everyone else.
This job - like anything else - requires some technical knowledge and access to (or owning) original diagnostic equipment. Without it sure will be problems. I also did this installations several times, once was honk problem, but this was solved with piwis, nothing more. New steering wheel module need to be adapted to your car, it should not working without it, and you see it. I don't think new module is broken, as your tester can't communicate with it you need to get other equipment that can do coding. Best option - porsche piwis
Just swapped a 997.2 wheel and airbag on my 2009 turbo (997.1). All is good, except I get a single alarm honk (loud) when turning off the car. Also, previous wheel was multi-function, but the m-f is not working on the 997.2 wheel. I have searched and read all 997.2 to 997.1 steering wheel swap threads and have found nothing related to the single alarm honk problem. Anyone experience this?

I did not change the control unit. Based on posts about this swap, many find they only need to change the module if the horn does not work. My horn works.

Well, you misunderstood the information found. Multifunction buttons uses lin-bus data protocol, which is different for 997.1 and 997.2 and 991. So to get 997.2 steering wheel full working in 997.1 you need to change steering wheel control unit to 997.2 version, to get 991 steering wheel full working - add another one unit, which is not porsche made

Hi there, was wondering if you got yours to work. I had the same problem. Horn wouldn't stop on ignition.
after you install the 997.2 steering module has anyone else's lower stalks stopped working?
i need to get the MFC coded again, but i was surprised the lower stalks for cruise control and modes on the left stopped.
is there a specific option i need to get coded to get these to work again?
Wondering if you got this working?. I got a brand new steering module, installed everything as supposed to. Horn works, but same as you, lower portion of stalks control don’t work nor MF functions and paddles. I got everything turned on with Foxwell tool but same results.
You all need to remove transport lock from new unit with PIWIS. And then code it to car options. And then it will work.
