annoyingly, the one module the durmetric pro cannot access or code is the steering wheel module - you will need a piwis II

Anyone able to Code their Steering Column using Durametric Pro? Mine generates an error when trying to connect. Unsure if it's due to it looking for a different module or a fault with the module itself.

Went into my local Porsche service centre and they had it working in 5 minutes. They ignored the error and coded multi function back in and all buttons are now working. Install success! Thanks shadow993 and random Lithuanian guy who sold me the wheel and airbag off eBay

Thanks to this thread, and the huge guidance that shadow993 provided, I completed this swap today.

For tiptronic users thinking about doing this mod - I highly recommend it. There is something unnatural about shifting gears on the toggle buttons. After installing the 991.2 steering wheel, the PDK paddles feels much more proper and natural (I had a SMG M3 before).

Something else I have noticed, and maybe other tiptronic converted users can add, is that the shift response is better. Something about the updated steering module, better feedback from the paddles (original toggle buttons felt mushy) and maybe even updated steering module software makes the shift response better. I'm not going to even compare this to an actual PDK gearbox because there is none, but the overall driving experience has been much improved with this wheel. I highly recommend for tiptronic users.

i have a 2007 997 turbo tipp, it had the triangle air bag with multifunction, i have upgraded to the 997.2 sport pedal steering with module done a few years back.

now i plan on upgrading to the 991.2 steering with pedals for the throw. would i need a new module? i dont care about the multifunctions tbh

No... not at all. You can buy a module for the MF to work or you can buy blanks at suncoast to eliminate

Just did my '08 997TT after reading here and Jim Wongs video, thanks everyone.
Paddles removed, shroud replaced. need to order the GPS and 997.2 modules for the controls to function.

No illumination on the wheel at this time not sure if this comes with installing the 997.2 module?

Illumination worked for me after installing both the module and the GPS adapter, I *think* it requires both.

Thanks seems I have to power the Macan module with the GPS adapter.
Now I'm confused on what 997 module is needed,.one is a PDK and the other is manual transmission. Everything I read states to get the 997-613-289-01. Sent an email to Paul Li to confirm.

Response from Paul Li.

Just 997.613.289.01 can fits 997.1 to support multifunction and shifts peddles,in your case is manual,so just need fits multifunction. Replace steering control module and coding following this guide
https://gpsadapter.us/blogs/installa...e-coding-guide
Remember setp 3,check set "Automatic (Tiptronic/PDK)" and "PDK" (both!) to "installed". even manual car.
BTW: please check current steering control module parts number equipped, your 997.1 is very late version, some this 997.1 original equipped
997.613.289.00 or 997.613.289.01 (either will work)

The numbers in bold is from his second email confirming both 997 modules will work. He also has this information in his manual.

Anyone in SoCal have a PIWIS2?, will pay for an hour of your time, need to get the 997-613-289-01- steering control module programmed. would rather pay a fellow enthusiast than dealer.

Illumination and controls only worked for me until programming was done by a friend and his PIWIS 2, bit of a challenge as Rusnak Porsche refused the job.

this one?

he makes conflicting statements. Says you need both the oem module AND the STMV1/STMV1-H adapter, but video description says you only need one adapter
