Suncoast sells blanks for the MF for $80.

To get the MF and heat to work. You need to see if you have steering module 99761328901. It's a 2010 part, but depending on your 2009 make, you might have it. I bought a used one from a MF car and avoided programming. It will need to be programmed as well. You also need this https://gpsadapter.us/

Honesty... I had it in my 997.1, and the MF isn't what you expect. Volume and back work, but bc of the radio functions... it's limited on ease of use. Everything is multiple steps.

Hi there

i just purchased the STMV1/STMV1-H

i intend to try to install it without changing my steering module as i have a 2009, when i take my 991 wheel back off i will check what part number steering module i have.

that said, there i am very confused is whether i need a heated clock wheel, nobody mentions this part or part number.

my 997.1 2009 turbo had MFC but no heat from the factory.

i was going to do a plug and play and just see that happens but where i am lost is that if i never have heat i must not have the conductors for that.... ????

Please let me know.

How do you change the steering wheel control module (99761328901)? Does the clock spring need to be removed.

Yes, it plugs into it and slides off. Make sure you take a pic of the position, as it rotates easily. If you install it wrong it will throw off the steering sensor. It doesn't have be precisely... just in that proximity.

after you install the 997.2 steering module has anyone else's lower stalks stopped working?

i need to get the MFC coded again, but i was surprised the lower stalks for cruise control and modes on the left stopped.

is there a specific option i need to get coded to get these to work again?

You can also remove the paddles in 5m, and porsche sells a tee cover for manuals.

I highly doubt you will need programming for the horn.
Ok, so i completed the swap and everything works including the horn. However, my airbag light stays on and when i pull the code i am getting "8007, Driver's front airbag stage 1 above upper limit". Anyone know what this code means?

Thanks in advance,

John

It was a pinched cable. Problem solved and airbag ligh is gone.

I had a line on a used 997.613.289.01 module, but the salvage place apparently sold it locally and then tried to substitute an earlier unit (997.613.291.02) in it's place which I rejected.

That said, I just found another used module out of a 2010 C4S cabriolet with an automatic transmission and sport steering wheel with MF controls. The module part number is 997.613.299.02 which apparently supersedes the 997.613.299.01 version that is mentioned by Paul Li as one of the two that will work (https://gpsadapter.us/blogs/installa...e-coding-guide).

Has anyone tried and had success with either the 997.613.299.01 or 997.613.299.02 modules?

Sure, I've installed 299.02 several times to my clients, this is unit that supports heated steering wheel, others don't support. Everything work fine for sure.

Thanks for the quick response Serg124 - much appreciated!

I know at minimum I need the GPS STMV1 adapter to make the multifunction buttons work, but I'm guessing I'd need the STMV1-H to try and make the heated wheel work, correct? I've read that the 997.1 platform (mine is a 2007) can't support the heated steering wheel.

There's a option - heated steering wheel, for 997.1, if you have one, or want to install - you need 299.02 unit
I can't tell about GPS adapters, I install Russian made, they are universal for any steering wheel type, all support heating, price lower than heated GPS and same as basic GPS adapter.

Greetings,
bump of an older thread but hopefully someone can give some guidance.

I have a 2007 987.1 Boxster S tiptronic sport chrono
I bought a 997 PDK wheel and new airbag and column control module from Suncoast.

Took all the screen captures prior to removing the stock wheel.
Installed the column module, no problem.
Put the new wheel on and hooked up the battery - all good.

Key to position 2 so I can code the new wheel - HOOOOOONK!
It's the security horn.
I ruled out regular horn by pulling the 15a fuse which did nothing.
Puled the security 15a fuse and now the horn is silent while I try and code the wheel - no luck.

Strangest thing ever.
Car does start, and was able to drive it in and out of the garage.

Pics of my foxwell for clarity.
Thanks for any suggestions.

also, I did go back in and double check all my connections and the clock spring alignment. Everything was marked and reconnected as per removal.

Cheers from Canada.
David.
