Anyone using or have experience with an HKS EVC6-IR boost controller?

Having issues getting psi up and convinced it's a setting. Stuck at 20 psi. HKS has no tech support number. Wondering if anyone is using this or knows someone who can walk me through the basic settings. Have tried everything.

I don't have my car with me and haven't used it in a while.

From what I can remember, during set up, you need to do a test pull to get the base waste gate spring pressure first and set it.

Then you set target pressure in column A, B or C and there is another setting for the aggressiveness of building boost, I can't remember if this is done with a percentage... I think mine was 8-10. It was a pretty easy set up tbh. Much easier than the Greddy I was using before.

What is your target boost?

Remember when setting up a boost controller try and run race fuel for safety incase you over boost.

There was a bug in the HKS software.

If you set STD MAX BOOST and TARGET BOOST same in the settings you cant boost as you want.

I'm using EVC since 2005, if you can post pics of your settings pages i can help you out

Awesome thanks guys. Will post them this afternoon when I go and get car,I read that about setting those the same and the issues it creates. Car made 625 to the tires at 20 psi and trying to get to its full potential. Emre Iwas actually at Magnus tuning it and was talking to Marco and Matt about reaching out to you as I am sure a tranny is in order in the near future as car is a tip.

Haha, good coincidence!

Settings seemed fine to me;

Did you calibrate throttle correctly? Do you see %99-100 when you are on boost?

If you didnt set it up correctly and have boost compensation by Throttle,
it wont let you boost as you want.

Other things to check step by step;

- Make a boost leak test
- Check EVC vacuum/boost lines, make sure you dont have any leak there.
- Check WG's by hand vacuum/pressure tool, to make sure they operate correctly

Throttle is hooked up properly you can see the open and close percentages with the motor off but ignition on. Seems fine. Waste gates under pressure with gauges on them start to crack at 14.5 psi. What should my standard max boost be set up as as well as the initial offset?

Throttle parameters with pedal not touched and pedal to floor with ignition power on motor not running.

Make STD MAX BOOST 13.5 or 14 and try again.

Leave the OFFSETs as it is now. you can use that later on for fine tuning.

Silly question: Are you sure its on?

If you dont see the "A-B-C " on top its running spring pressure ... Longpress the upper two buttons to turn it on/off and cycle through with the second button ...

We actually ended up figuring it out. We set the throttle setting with the car off like the manual said. However with the car running the no throttle position( the starting point) dropped by 150 value. So we reset the throttle to accommodate for that and we instantly made 25lbs of boost. Then we started playing around with the efficiency at like 80-90 percent to to get it to peak at our max boost variable. We were able to get it down but was still overshooting by like 1-2 psi. Next week have dyno timed book so will finalize it on there. Thanks guys. Big difference between 20psi and 25

That was the inaugural pass when we got it going. Dropped it to 22-23 after that. Will wrap it up on dyno next week in that range.
