Motor trend reports 7:40 at the ring

They ran it on cup tires which is kind of BS but..... Thought this car would beat a ZO6 out of the box, now I don't think it will.

Did GM ever state what kind of tires the C6Z had when it set it's Ring time?

How fast did the Z06 go around the 'Ring?

I think it was 7:43

And where did GM state the time was accomplished with runflats? The last article I saw said GM experimented with several different tire set ups prior to the recorded time, and they never said what the final tire configuration was.

You guys need to give Porsche some credit! The 996 GT2 did the Ring in 7:46 and the old 996TT did it in 7:56... The 997TT will do atleast a tenth of a second faster than the 996 GT2 without the cup tires. That's a HUGE improvement! Kudos to Porsche!

Let us compare this to the Ferrari F430... The old 360 Challenge Stradale did the ring in 7:56 (which is a sad time, considering the non-X50 996TT without the X73 suspension, gets that time) and the new F430 does it in 7:55... That's a pathetic improvement!

Yea.... PORSCHE RULES ALL!

And don't forget that the 7:56 was with 415 hp on the OEM stock suspension. Add both X50 and X73 and the 996 Turbo would probably be in the low 7:50 to high 7:40 range.

I think the only true fair comparison for the F car would bet to compare the 360 NON-CS to the 430, then the 360CS to the 430CS when it arrives

You are right, the time was 7:42.99 so 7:43 is the number, maybe I drank the kool-aid on the tires, I posted on corvetteforum to see if someone can actually verify that it was on the runflats.

They said in the magazine that they have to try different type of tires before they did the run for the Z06..

I can't confirm it other than to say some (respected) corvettforum members are saying that it was running the stock tires.

variable is infamous around these parts
Wish they hadn't used cup tires... it doesn't give us any kind of accurate comparison.
