Decision time

Hey guys. Newbie here on the forum looking for some insight. I have a 2007 6speed turbo and am trying to decide if it would be worth the upgrade costs to move up to a 991.1 gt3rs. Pros and cons? Thanks!

Only you can determine if it is worth it for you, but you only live once. If it’s what you want, and can afford it, I would say go for it.

Here's the way I view the change to any 991 series vehicle: you give up more direct connection to the driving experience with the new technology.

Whether it's the PDK or the electric steering, the driver is a bit more removed from the equation in the new generation.

All of the improvements lead to a more refined experience, but for me, the third pedal and all the raw feedback I get from the 997 is more desirable.

So it depends on what you are after. The GT3 RS is a monster, but I enjoy piloting my 997 TT around.

Ed

That’s the feedback I’m looking for! Thanks! I’m partial to the third pedal at this point as well, I haven’t had the chance to drive an rs how does the torque feel in comparison to the turbo? I understand how different they are just want an idea from someone who has driven both. Thanks!

The gt3 is the best looking car for sure with its mesh grilles, spoiler and details. Wish there was a mezger turbo version that didn't cost an arm and leg

You probably know it's apples and oranges comparing a 997.1 turbo to a 991.1 GT3RS. Nonetheless, from an owner of both, I'll provide my perspective.

IMHO, there may only be one thing you miss with the 997, the turbo rush in a straight line. The RS, at least in my configuration, which includes PCCB and LWBS (carbon seats), is simply an incredible machine in every aspect. The feel, sound and driving characteristics is everything you would want and expect in a car of this caliber. FWIW, also owned two Lambos - 2013 Gallardo LP550-2 and 2015 Huracan LP610-4. I would choose the RS all day and it's not close for what I seek from a car.

Let me know if you have more questions about the car. Cheers!

I believe the 991 3RS would be a better all around experience, though double the cost. The 7.1 turbo is really a cosmetic upgrade from the last 6 turbo, with a few mechanical upgrades. The 991 series is a true whole model line update.

it is a tough decision when you are starting to see deals like this:

I went down the rabbit hole and things weren't as smooth as all make it out to be (maybe just my bad luck). I think having one person/team accountable for everything...start to finish is of the utmost importance. Even if it means having to ship the car across the country. If you want to discuss in depth happy to do so via PM.
