5th Gear reviews the new Turbo
'there is no production road car on the planet capable of catching the new Porsche 911 Turbo on a country lane without delving into the murky waters of ultra rare groove sports replica models. '

I have comcast. Anyone know if this show is still broadcasted to us, and what channel and time?

Still take the my F430. They will make more Turbos this year then the entire production run of the F430. Thus in 3 years the car will be worth about 50% less. People have to give away 996TTs these days. In three years, the 430 will loose ~20% off MSRP. I am sick of losing a lot of money on high volume production cars.
I'm not sure of exact numbers but I think the F430 production #'s will exceed that of the 360 by alot. I'm sure this will reak havoc on resale values for the 430. As a 996 TT owner I know what you mean about having to give away TT's. I think the CS is the way to go or wait for the serie speciale from the F430 generation.
Apropo the thread, 3.7 for a tip is still alot less than what MT (3.2) had listed for 0 to 60.
I wonder if 3.9 and 3.7 are porsches conservative numbers?

They may make more 430s but they will not all come to NA. Back in the 360 days, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

were not as large a market as they are today. There will be less 430s shipped into NA then 360s is my guess. You already see today.

As a result, the 430s should retain its value a lot longer. In addition, it is a much better car then any 360 was due to Tech advances and increased HP. Just by going to a chain from a belt is going make the car more desirable as miles are put on over the years. People will not be scared to buy an F430 with 15-20K miles on it. I would have never bought an FCAR if they could not get a V8 to produce ~500HP. Now I own one and love it.<O

I love Ferraris, but I hate the dealers...Have fun with it and don't preserve it with low miles.

This concept that the new ferrari's are stable in price is ludicrous. Find me a 360 spider with 10k miles/yr that is now 5 years old that is worth 50% of its original sale price (usually quite a bit over msrp). Easy to do with a 996 turbo cab.
Now I know the 430 is much better than the 360, but wasn't the 360 much better than the 355, than 348, etc...
If you want to be fiscally prudent buy toyotas that are already 2-3 years old. Want to have fun, buy what you want and drive the s__t out of it.
Some day I'd like to own a ferrari, but I can't afford a new 612, the only ferrari with enough headroom for my 6'6" frame. But if 456's are any indication, I will easily be able to afford one in a few years. Hell I saw one that went for 170K at auction in SCM.
Any car produced in the thousands, when it leaves the dealer is a USED car, and depreciating as such. The only exception is when you secure purchase of a car that will sell for more than MSRP at MSRP. Then it will depreciate from purchased price and wave at MSRP on the way down.
