Bridgestone tires on nmy new 997TT
My 997TT was delivered today to the dealership. While it was still wrapped I noticed it had Bridgestones versus the Michelins I expected and had on my 997S. Should I be concerned? Do I have any option to ask the dealer to change them out for the Michelins? Are they as good?

I received Bridgestones too. Initially I too wanted them swaped out for Michelins. I've got about 200-300 miles on them so far and noticed they really stick like glue. I'm not concerned about switching tires any longer. Give them a try I think you will like them.
Many reviews I have read say they are stickier. Yes the weight is one of the reasons I wanted the Michelins also......particularly since I have the ceramic brakes to save on weight.
Thanks for your responses!

FYI, there are the lesser RE050As and then there are RE050A Pole Positions which are essentially "S-04s".
It's the latter that you want and per Damon @ Tirerack, the last time i checked like three weeks ago, the Pole Positions are being sold at introductory pricing right now. they will be priced similary as the PS2s at some time in the near future. could be wrong here so check your tire sources.
RE050A PPs are comparable to PS2s except they are non directional so you can swap them side to side for those of us who like to run a bit of neg camber for a bit more bite in the turns.
i'm loving them so far on my ride
PS - bridgestone even offers a tire a cut above the PS2/RE050PP level with the RE01Rs or something like that so check that out

I was at the dealer yesterday and borrowed a tape measure to compare the rear tire contact patch between the 305/30/19 PS2's and the 305/30/19 Bridgestones on my 997TT.
Surprisingly enough I measured the PS2's "worn in" contact patch at 10.75" exactly. The "worn in" contact patch on my Bridgestones measured 11.5" exactly.
Thought this was rather interesting. It just might suggest the PS2's is a better handling tire for the track and the Bridgestones are a better staight line tire for drag strip "hook up duty".
Watcha think?

tony, without mentioning what kind of tires the bridgeys are, it makes it all the more difficult to make any sort of determination which is better than the other.
peter, i'd hit up damon at tirerack to get an idea of ETA if ever for the RE050A PPs.
All I know is, the PS2s and the RE050A PPs are comparable
