Sorry but I disagree. Mawyatt makes good points in his post. Its much easier for a driver to handle foul weather in an AWD car with almost 500 ponies, than a car with similiar HP with just rear wheel drive. Traction control helps but if I lived in an area with his weather conditions and I could afford it, a Turbo would be much safer than a Z06 as a daily driver. IMHO.
cooperlee,
Yeah you are right. My money, so don't need to justify the selection to anyone...except my wife!! Got a 97 993C2 I love to drive as well, totally different car than the 997 turbo though.
C4S,
A guy I work with got washed into a ditch on US 19 on the way to work this summer. Couldn't get traction with rears to pull himselve away from being dumped in the ditch, needed 4WD.

If you are within 100 miles of MI, you got yourself a race. I have been trying to get a race with a stock 997 TT against my bone stock C6 Z06 with someone from this board for a long time now, and I have yet to have anyone take me up on the offer.

Besides, why do you think I have been wanting to race another one so bad, asking gover and over again on this forum? Maybe because I have raced one before, time and time again from various speeds, and I know exaclty how the races will go each time??..
The Z06 is the faster car, although the 997 TT is pretty quick, one of the fastest stock cars that I have raced (About as fast as the SL65 AMG I raced)

From Car & Driver
They show 997turbo quicker than Z06 to 0-60 (3.7 vs. 4) and 1/4 mile time (11.6 vs. 11.9). I think these are the correct times (I know the turbo was quicker in both), check back of mag they list all times for various cars.
These are from Car & Driver web.

7:46 - 159.142 km/h - Porsche 996 GT2, 462 PS/1450 kg (sport auto 06/01)
So as I said before both are very good, pretty much even cars. Z06 more track centered, turbo more street (GT) centered.
So lets move on to something more productive, like what do we think the GT2 will do on the track.
BTW anyone heading to Sebring this year?

As far as telling me to not warm up my tires....umm, are you serious? You have AWD and I have RWD on runflats with 420 rwtq. If I want to warm them up for better traction, I will.
We can run from a dig and we can run from a 50 roll. If you accept, let me know and we can do this as soon as the weather warms up. I also have a video camera.
