Battery Question

A simpke question before I run to many stores.

My battery was completely discharged and it may not take a charge. I know an Optima will not fit. Will a Pep Boys/Autozone type battery fit? Or can I only get one at the Porsche dealer? I don't have time to go the Optima-adapter approach.

Thanks. Vincy

Why not take your battery out and measure what size it is? Or take it with you to the shop and compare.

I would do that, but I'm a little frustrated, and trying to save the extra trip.

I would think that by taking the battery with you, that'd save you time.

No common battery fits.

Well its not so easy. At Autozone the computer says no battery is available for our car. So I measured every one on the shelf, the computer is right, non fits. The size is 12 X 6.75 with the restraint on the short sides. Same at Sears, none fit. This is frustrating. The battery doesn't seem to be holding a charge.

The battery went dead because I left the key in the ignition. Who would have know this. And the manual says this happens. Doesn't seem very smart to me.

My wife has a Corvette and sees some humor in this.

Maybe in a couple days I'll find this funny, but the migraine is too bab right now.

I think some of the Sear Diehard International batteries are the same size. Did you try a search yet. Also try the Autozone website - it lists a battery for the 2006 911 Carerra.

Also, how long have you had the car? If not long you should see if your dealer will replace under warranty.

I just read the other forum...I feel for you brother. Mary's seeing the humor in this alright. Funny thing is that I asked my salesperson how to pop open the trunk if the battery was ever dead and he pointed out the terminals to connect to in the fuse box. I guess it's a wee bit harder than that.

Not to point out the obvious, but have you tried asking the dealership for a battery or at least where to get a compatible battery?

The Sears International size 48 or 49 is a good option. Unfortunatley I can't remember which one. Both are 6 7/8 wide and 6 7/8 high with the 48 being 11 3/8 long and the 49 being 14 5/16 long. Measure yours and see which one it is. Good luck.

Battery size

jhbrennen, you are right there are some the same size, but they don't have the restraints in the right place.

I used my wife's car to jump to the fuse box, a charger would not do it, got the trunk open. It not real smart design, you can't get to a dead battery unless you have a good battery. Right now its like a dead short. I'll let it charge a day and see what happens. If I can start it I can drive it to the dealer.
