1st gear is so short!

Today i did a little spirted driving in the turbo and before i even could think i had to shift into 2nd. Its fun but it sure is a short first gear......I could drive around town all day in first gear in my Z06 and have no problem getting to 60. ....

Does everyone like the short gears?

I agree that it's very short but it doesn't really bother me since the car is so easy to shift. It took me a little while to get used to the very high clutch takeup point but once you do you barely have to depress the pedal and with the ssk (I can't understand why this isn't standard) you're in second before you know it.

I don't like the short gearing. Same issue with a 360, way too short, the Z06 and Gallardo are much more to my liking

I agree it is very short. It took some getting used to, but I got it down now. I also hit redline the first few times.

Yes, had a 997TT for a few months, did't have that road connection that I like. Also, not to sound like a jerk or anything, but the thing looked like every other 911, Boxster and Cayman out there. I need the unique styling.

IT'S GONE!!

It is kind of a weird ratio. 1st to 2nd is a big gap under full throttle, the rest are silky though.

Its not so short, the tt just gets to 39-40 so fast compared to what you were driving. And too you run out of the revs fast because the car is a bit low on max rpm (6800 or so) because of the turbo. When you floor the car in first, you got to remember in just a second or two, best to shift or your teeth will end up on the steering wheel. I guess that is one of the advantages of a non-turbo is the 7800-8000 rpm max like I had in my M3. Wonder what rev max the GT3 has??

Redline (rev limited) for turbo is 6600. It's like hitting a wall.

The GT3 redlines at 8800 I read. Damn.

Yea, but you get that 2nd gear shift right in the tt and that 8800 rev GT3 will never catch you.....if you forget that very-soon 2nd gear shift, however, the GT3 smokes your tt.
