C2S or TT

Hi,
Long time lurker first time poster. Before finding this site, I was pretty set on getting a C2S. After reading the 997TT forums and how everyone is raving how great a TT car is, I'm contemplating getting one. My issue is that I have never driven a true sports car, so I might not appreciate the TT. Do you think I should start w/ the C2S drive it for a couple years and upgrade to a TT? Or just go w/ the TT and "ignorance is bliss" attitude?

Went from an M3 to TT... couldnt be happier! Thought about doing the C2 as well as the next step but decided to make the jump and never looked back. The speed difference between them is just silly and will have you smiling the whole time. The C2 has a little more steering feel but that is more than made up for in the torque in my mind.

Also since you live in LA... might as well get the TT... slightly less common than the C2's

Take some time to search through past threads on this subject. You'll find dozens of opinions and they fall into two basic camps. 1) The C2S is an incredible car in it's own right and RWD and lighter weight is a real plus, especially at the track, and 2) The TT has more power / torque, so if your goal is to be quickest off the light, then the TT might be the better choice.

I wanted a hybrid Porsche - great car for the track, but also easy to enjoy around town with a back seat for my daughter (ie: No GT3). I debated the TT, but for track duty and staying "under the radar", the C2S was the better choice. Launching at the traffic light was not of interest to me. No regrets here whatsoever with the C2S, which I've tweaked for weight and performance (AWE headers, cats, mufflers, Revo software, GT3 Cup control arms for camber, track fluid, pads, wheels, & tires).

I've had both (C2S and 996 tt) and I say drive them both. Both are great cars, but the turbo is insane in torque and hp. It doesn't sound like you're going to the track, so RWD, lighter steering feel, etc probably doesn't make a huge difference to you. If the price difference doesn't matter, get the turbo.

Do a search mate, this subject has been beaten to death...

The two cars have such a huge difference in terms of how they make power and how they put it down.

Why are you cross shopping the C2S instead of the GT3, that doesn't make any sense considering the price points.

Josh.

Well, I highly recommend driving the two and deciding which you like best. I personally don't like turbo's, so even if they were the same price, I wouldn't go for one [though they are awesome cars in their own right].

Drive both and if you can afford a TT, it's built like a tank!!

If you can get the turbo then get it, the Carrera S is a good second choice and has lots of power for an average driver to handle.

At the end of the day it depends on your prefrance to RWD/NA 911 Carrera or a AWD/TT 911.

Dont forget that the N/A cars sound far far better.
Turbo is a great fast car, but sounds bland as hell.

Turbo is not much faster, especially on the streets, which most of the driving is done.

WRONG, not with a NICE exhaust setup, and I have proven that!

C2S is more pure, quicker on it's feet, more involving IMO. 996TT is just amazing, brutally fast and endless grip, but needs a lot of work done to have ENJOYMENT left in it for the driver.

Europipe. IMO, sounds much better than my C2S with PSE, although pricey.

if you have 140k lying around, I'd recommend just hitting up the local dealer, drive the C2S, the GT3 and the Turbo. Then drive one of them home. No matter which you end up with, you're getting a GREAT car.

if it's between a 996TT and a 997C2S, I've had both and decided to go with the C2S
