Wheel Spacers Needed/Recommended?

Ordering a new C4S Coupe and salesman recommends I order the 5mm wheel spacers. The rear wheels are 11.5 x 19 with 305 tires. What benifit do they add to driving? Is it appearance or functional?
Appreciate any input from the members.

From what I understand, no noticeable performance gain for the rear, but more so for esthetics.

I have 7mm in the front, and 15mm in the rear. Mine are H&R, and lot less money the the OEM. They are just for looks IMO.

You can get them from damon@tirerack.com

Here is my post that shows the install.

Agree with all of the above but would still recommend them. Definitely improves appearance.

Northvan997c2s, I am on the way to install the same on my new C2 S, did you face any problem such as front wheels vibrations ?
It is what happened on my Cayman.

No, I have the hubcentric spacers in the rear and the non hubcentric in the front. I don't have any problems at all, I track my car with them, and I have driven at 240km/h (150 mph) on the track and no issues what so ever. Just make sure you get longer bolts.

It looks good, thanks for the pictures. One question though, how did you come about the 7mm in front? I like the way the back wheels sit, could the front come out more and if not why? Thanks. And where did you get them. there are many manufactures.

7mm added to the fronts is about the maximum recommended, as I understand it. Don't forget that the more you push them out, the more you are offset from the steering pivot points for each front wheel. Too much front offset would impact steering geometry, thus affecting tire wear and handling I expect.

I think that you could go with wider ones, but as Ken said, the 7mm is the most that Porsche recommended to me when I spoke to them.

I've a set (2 spacers) of genuine Porsche 5 mm spacers w/ the required longer bolts that I'd be happy to sell you.

PM me if you're interested.
