Automatic headlamps

I've searched the forum and Porsche's site. Was just wondering if 997.1 or 997.2 came with automatic headlamps functionality? I know the 2005 model doesn't but was wondering if this was ever added as a feature in later models. TIA.

No they don't. This has been my biggest gripe about the car. I know Porsche is often late to include many creature comforts such as sat radio, bluetooth etc, but auto lights have been around for 20 years. I can't imagine they add weight (certainly no more that auto mirrors). Why not offer a switch and sensor as a $750 option?

Actually the daytime running lights stay on all the time. I've had the day times on at night and switched the headlights on and find no difference in the low beam intensity. With that said, you won't have any gauge or dash lights nor will your high beams work. In a sense Porsche is more than half way there making printemps2001 comments even more spot on. My dealings with German born Porsche and Mercedes company reps has been that they are annoyingly stubborn. If it's any indication of how management thinks that may explain why they refuse to make changes even for customers in their largest market.

That is a real bummer. Hopefully Porsche will add that feature in sooner rather than later.

+1

I don't care much for auto-on headlights. Have 'em in the S4 and on the wifey's Infiniti and they are annoying.

Does the new 997.2 have an automatic cappuccino machine built in? Other luxury cars do, but I've not read anything about this in the 911. Please tell me this is standard or at the very least an option. I don't think I could live without one in my car. If it's not available I may have to keep my current Lexus. By the way can I read email messages on the PCM screen using the bluetooth connection to my iPhone? My Cadillac can.

automatic headlamps functionality" ..... sorry for my ignorance but ....do you mean day time running lights DTRL (ie always on) ..... or do you mean, some kind of a sensor that automatically turns on headlights if conditions are below a particular illumination.

Apologies for not being clear...I meant the sensor that automatically turns on headlights. Not sure if "automatic headlights" is the correct term, but I think I've seen it used elsewhere.

'Automatically' turns on headlights when it's dark?

'Automatically' turns on headlights everytime you turn the key? (ie on all the time .. DTRL).

LOL - I installed the automatic cappuccino machine in my 911 and I see why it is not a factory option - what a mess it makes!

Automatically turn on headlights when it is dark. I got the answer to my question and see that its not an option yet.
