Which seats?

Trying to decide which seats to buy. I use my 997S as a daily driver, putting on about 20,000 miles each year. Last year I did 6 DEs (9 days) in it. This year I'm hoping for 10 DEs and 15-20 days. So I'm considering some new seats (have the stock standard seats). Interior is Sand Beige, but willing to go black or even red (probably not the best choice).

My preference is to get something I can leave in all summer, then swap out in the fall for my heated seats. Would appreciate opinions on the following:

Porsche 996-GT3 about $2995/pair at Suncoast (cloth)
Porsche GT2 at about $6095/pair at Suncoast (cloth)
Recaro Pole Position probably $2500 all in
Sparco Evo2 probably $2400 all in

I like that the GT2 seats have the thorax air bag for daily driving. I'd just need a sub bar and connectors for harnesses. Also a definite fit, but not clear how they do if I get HANS (not using it now).

The GT3 is a less expensive option, doesn't fold so limited back seat access. But that's true anyway with the harness bar (rig) installed anyway.

The Recaro is a nice seat (wife has it in her CaymanS) and they always go into Porsches pretty easily.

I like the Evo2 better than the Recaro in a showroom, not sure if I'll like it on a 5 hour freeway cruise or commuting (30 miles each way). Also very unsure of all the bits needed to mount a Sparco seat in a Porsche.

Prices are all new - only willing to consider used if safety is assured. Never planning to race, so FIA or other tags are important only to the extent that they certify crashworthiness.

So thinking daily driver, wearing a suit, with several DEs, any recommendations or other inputs?

TIA,

P-cardriver

I like the GT2 seats if the money difference isn't a huge factor.

See if you can find something in the classifieds, or post a WTB ad. You might just find something for a lot less than new.

I have the 996 GT3 Seats in leather, and they are awesome for the track and great for the street. I pulled them out for the winter to use the seat warmers in my Addaptive Sport Seats. I added the roll bar, so access to the rear seat is not important for me.

Thanks - I've been watching here, another "...list" board, CL and eBay. Most important is to find the right seats; used in good condition is fine if undamaged (not salvaged after an accident).

I've been watching that thread. If those of you with similar seats post here that the 996-GT3 seat is the way to go, then I would consider these. The price is great, but as several have noted in the thread safety is a concern. OTOH if this type of seat is going to be too narrow or uncomfortable for longer drives, etc., then I'd pass at any price. Size wise note that I'm looking at the EVO2 and Pole Position (same width as Profi XL I think).

Just to clarify, I am open to alternate seat ideas as long as the size/fit will work and they are safe (quality). I prefer cloth vs leather for the seating surface for better grip and some breathing on such a tight fitting seat. But I really want to hear experiences/recommendations from those who've gone before.

Thanks,
p-cardriver

i always get a kick when you Vancouverites talk about winter! everything is relative though

when i lived out there i don't think many cars even had heated seats, it is amazing what we now take for granted.
